I would go for a Bosch, or Siemens if you can find one. Both are identical machines, with colour differences only. This does only apply to the washer dryers though.
(That is as the Miele’s are beyond your range)As for Hoover’s, I would rather wash my clothes in the Ganges

After looking at all the posts, I would go with P45s suggestion of pressure system.
I am guessing that the pressure unit on the front of the tank is gunged and a blockage is causing the pressure switch not to see the correct levels until the blockage actually shifts (or faulty pr switch), by that time the water level is so high it activates the antiflood part of the pressure switch.
Fault 3 is fill taking longer than 255 secs, which ties in nicely with pressure system fault. 😕Greg
