I think its going to take longer than that and the engineer is worth every penny considering the machine is worthless as it is now.

The old smeg thermocouples suffered badly from a poor earth contact via hob top attached to.
The new thermocouples have an additional flylead to attach to an earth point which alleviates the fault.Greg

Metering unit on l/h side and/or ribbed hose from sump to that unit could be gunged up.

Without knowing the machine fully,just going of previous models, the reset as I said is usually rear right but could ne anywhere underneath on yours.
It usually has a black or red knobbly end in the centre, which when depressed will give a click indicating it has been tripped. It should heat after that 😀Unplug as always beforehand
