    Its either the wax valve that actuates the dispenser mech and/or the module.
    Until its fixed yes you can just put tablet in basket.

    Power off if you are to fault/repair yourself. :plug:

    I would also consider the flowmeter/impeller jug p/no 424099
    These are prone to give problems like you are getting.
    Module and/or impeller jug are available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk
