Re: dishwasher spray arm hitting dishes

hi, the top arm seems to work ok as everything in the top is spotless (looked like a grain of rice in 1 of the holes so i took it out to remove it, bad idea), but neither myself nor my wife have ever moved the tray and had the big plates in the bottom and tall glasses in the top nearly every wash since we got it, i know u guys think im mistaken or dont know what im talking about but i confirmed it with the misses we had both in at the same time. 😕

Bear in mind that this part would come to you with no gaurantee and if you fit it without finding out why it blew in the first place then you will almost certainly blow a new one as well.

i was going to add it to the original but it seems to have died a death 🙁

im no further forward to finding out what caused it to go so im resigned to the fact it is likely to go.

    Re: hoover ppw166 washer/dryer

ok thanks, ive found either the cause – or a problem caused by the cause.

looking at the board i saw a black sooty mark around some zener diodes so checked the back of the board

so im positive thats why its not working, but what caused this? could an earth leak do this? dont want to buy another board to have the same happen again. 👿

Test the insulation of the components especially the heater and motor. 😉

[quote=”Martin”Also it’s worth pointing out that it is important to use a 500volt insulation tester to ensure no spurious earth leakage is causing the PCB to give erroneous messages. We in the trade use them as a matter of course but chances are you do not have such a facility to hand. If you have, then well for you as it may be invaluable. A multimeter is useless for such detective work but at least you can still test those PCB connections with one! 🙂

    All the best!

now you mention earth leakage, i should have mentioned this (memory’s not the greatest 😥 ), for about a month maybe 2 the fuse/relay in our electricity mains thingy has tripped when the washers been on, it hasn’t done it often 2-3 times maybe in 2 months, we’re not sure if its the washer but it has always been on when its happened, but so has the fridge etc.
