ParticipantHave brought the appliance to my workshop, and carried out further tests.
It’s looking very much like the board may be the main/only cause of the problem.
When connected up in my workshop, the display can be set, and a microwave programme selected then runs for 10-12 seconds, prior to the display failing, and the unit stopping.
The microwave has not tripped on the several occasions that I have tested it here, and when the display fails, power remains to the unit, and the board/display recovers after a minute or two.
I have tried the above cycle/s with the magnetron disconnected, and the same fault occurs.
I have tested the magnetron, (0.2 Ohms) both heating elements, both fan motors, and the turntable micro motor, which all give decent readings.
I realise the magnetron may still be faulty, but at least I can suggest replacing the board to my customer, and going from there.

ParticipantThanks Dave,
I’ll carry out some further tests asap.

ParticipantUpdate
Having seen the cost of replacement combination microwave ovens, my customer is now considering repairing her current one!
However, I’m a little reluctant to replace the expensive board, without knowing the cause of tripping, especially if further expensive part/s are required, and the board being non returnable.
I now wonder if the board may be causing both faults, and wish they could be tested more conclusively…

ParticipantI’ve just had another look at the above microwave, and am pretty sure that the “programmer/board” is causing the fault of powering up, then shutting down…
However, it costs over £200.00 and probably will not cure the tripping fault…
The board fuse is fine, and my customer has decided to replace the microwave.
Thanks all for your help.

ParticipantThanks Graham,
Will replace drain pump should fault recur.

ParticipantGood evening all,
I revisited the above problematic dishwasher this afternoon and spent around two hours monitoring, and carrying out further tests.
However, the machine behaved perfectly having selected the 30 minute, or so, quick wash! ( drains, fills, washes, dispenser releases, heats, rinses, drains etc)
I then tried the programme on a pre-rinse cycle, as suggested, which was also fine.
So, I decided to test the “liquor reservoir” actuator valve, which gave a good reading of 1.248 K Ohms.
I remained “flummoxed,” so my customer and I agreed that she would monitor the dishwashers operation, and let me know if the fault recurs…Not sure how else I could proceed with this one, and would like to thank all concerned for your kind help, particularly Jem and Kaibart.

ParticipantGood evening all,
I’m due to revisit the above problematic dishwasher tomorrow, and am much wiser as to what may be causing the fault.
However, I’m wondering how any problem with the “liquor reservoir” can result in the “no drain” fault experienced during a wash cycle.
Regards,jonty

ParticipantDo you mean the “actuator” (00618084) which Jem has mentioned as a possible cause?
jontymox
ParticipantThanks for the information gents, and the manual Jem.
It’s certainly an obscure fault, which I would like to solve!
My plan is to return to the job early next week, and carry out some more tests etc.
I assume that the mentioned actuator in the “liqour reservoir” should provide an Ohms resistance, and have a “impellor jug” available, as I reckon they are very difficult to test conclusively…
Thanks again,jonty
jontymox
ParticipantGood idea… you feel the m/c may be “confused” with the water intake?

ParticipantI probably need to return to carry out further tests, and establish if power is getting to the drain pump during wash cycles. (especially as the “programmed power module” costs £210.00!)

ParticipantGood evening,
Established fill valve/aqua stop fine (good ohms reading) but no supply from board.
Wiring to/from above fine, yet new and programmed board costs nearly £200.00!

ParticipantThanks for that info’ Jem,
Will update early next week, as too busy to return until then…

ParticipantThanks again,
I thought the unit was completely sealed, and didn’t want to break anything…
Will return, and update.
