    Re: ISE level sensor connectors

All very straightforward with one slight problem. The WM has only four connecting wires not five. On the old pressure sensor terminals 11 and 1 are connected at their base by a metal strip.

    Re: ISE level sensor connectors

Iadom, many thanks. Actually I’d sat down and thought about the problem and realised how to resolve it. 11+12 is the lower level (one blow) and 21 + 22 the (two blows) upper level.

    Re: ISE level sensor connectors

On the original (EMZ) level sensor the teminals were aranged in a single block of five blades numbered 1,16,11,14 and 12. The block was shaped so that the wires could only be connected one way.

On the replacement (Metalflex) sensor the terminals are are arranged quite differently. On the LHS terminals 23, 21, and 12 and on the RHS 22, 11 and 13. The replacement unit came with a set of spade connectors and plastic sleeves.

Re: ISE 1606 fault part 2

I have taken the element out. It looks fine; there’s a bit of calcium build up; a multi-meter test shows continuity and resistance within specification.

So it doesn’t look like the element is the problem.

The pressure switch is working fine. If you put water into the drum when the door is open the drain pump kicks-in immediately.

Is it possible that the machine has fritzed the MCU (again)?

    More information.

The machine will now go into the test programme. The water inlet test works fine but when the element test begins you can hear the water warming up for a few seconds then there is a click and the machine goes straight to drain.

Re: ISE 1606 fault part 2

The machine started working perfectly after my last post but the fault has returned. I have checked the interior of the casing for signs of leaks and there are none.

So it looks like a a fault in either the water level sensor (red) or the pressure detector (black).

Any suggestions for tests I might undertake?

    More information.

This is definitely an intermittent fault. This morning I tried the machine on the drain programme. Everything worked as it should, except at the end when the machine “clicked” a couple of times and the “END” display flashed on and off simultaneously.

I put the machine onto a full programme to see what happened and the machine worked correctly.

Re: ISE 1606 fault part 2

On the test programme the machine fills with water, there is the the click from the thermostat another click and then the machine aborts the test and goes straight to drain.

The machine has a new MCU. Is it possible that the motor has damaged the new unit? I read on this website that this is a remote possibility in the case of Bosch machines.

    Re: ISE 1606W fault

I had spotted the test menu and did a factory re-set. The machine is now working again. 🙂

    Re: ISE 1606W fault

The machine has gone U/S again.

On a wash cycle the machine fills and then stops; on the spin setting nothing happens. All the LEDs in the programme indicator are illuminated.

As the machine has a brand new MCU what else might be the cause of these problems?

    Re: ISE 1606W fault

Problem resolved just in time for Christmas. Big thanks to Trevor at ACC.

The question now is: at £200+ a pop is it worth finding out what went wrong with the original MCU and seeing if it can be rectified cost-effectively?

    Re: ISE 1606W fault

The machine is seven years old and any label is long gone.

I have been asked for the machine’s serial number.

Where is this on the machine?

    Re: ISE 1606W fault

A local engineer (familiar with ISE) thinks that there is a problem with the Motor Control Unit but that this may be symptom of another fault in the machine.

I would much rather get the machine repaired (spares availability aside) than scrap it and fork out another £1k for a Miele.

Any thoughts on the matter from those much, much more knowledgable than me.

    Re: Bosch Classixx Freezer problem

Well we need a bigger freezer, anyway, so we’ve decided to get a new one.

Which brands do you recommend? We are an ISE/Miele/Siemens type family.
