Re: ISE 10 Review (Hope It Helps!)

The ISE10 is superb bit of kit. Solidly built (makes you realize the tat that is on sale nowadays) and so quiet that the other day I had to check the machine was actually on.

I guess the real satisfaction of owning an ISE10 is knowing that you’ve made a sensible, long-term purchase.

We always recommend to friends even if they do think we’re a bit mad paying so much extra for a marque they’ve never heard of.

Why not post a video on Youtube? Saves all the hassle of writing down the regrogramming process.

Your local tool hire shop should have a moving trolley with wheels designed to go up and down flights of stairs. But you still need a bit of muscle power to keep everything under control. šŸ˜€

    Re: ISE 10 Questions

Hey I’m not an employee of ISE. Just a – so far – satisfied customer.

I think ISE have got things right when it comes to the number of programmes and spin speeds.

Our previous machine was an AEG, well a Zanussi in a party frock, and it had more features than you could shake a stick at and I’d guess we only ever used a tiny fraction of them.

It all reminds me of the “Not The Nine o’Clock News” sketch about the guy who goes into the hi fi shop and asks for features.

    I’m a fussy customer – that’s why I bought an ISE10.

I’d be happy to assure you that the ISE10 is a very quiet machine.

So how does a PCB “breakdown” after just seventeen months?

Only 17 months old. Surely: “not of merchantable quality”?

I’m a great believer in customer feedback!

If I were specifying the next batch of these machines I’d replace the stainless steel inner on the drop down door with a more practical wipe down surface that doesn’t show show every finger print and water mark.

kwatt wrote:Okay, I’ll own up… I have an ISE10 now and have for a few weeks as the old Blomberg finally drew it’s last breath with an almighty bang and a cracked drum spider. It did well though, eight years of utter punishment daily.

So one of the last 1400 machines is in daily use here.

I can’t say I’ve noticed any rattle from the door at all on mine however, what I have noticed is a total lack of rattles from anything around it when it’s on and I couldn’t say the same for the old Blomberg, the suspension and damping on the ISE10 is just way, way superior. By comparison the ISE is so quiet I barely notice it although, as I get used to it I’m sure any little noise will leap out at me. That said, I will play around a bit and see if I can get it to do it or ask my better half to report any rattles.

It was amusing a few days or week or so ago though when I was in a house that Hotpoint was on spin in, it sounded like Concorde was in the room compared to the ISE. So much so I checked that the bearings on the Hotpoint were okay! It’s weird how you seem to ā€œexpectā€ a certain sound with some machinery and get miffed when you don’t think it’s quite right, although that could just be an engineer thing.

The door closing thing I had to show my partner how to do it as well, it’s just a ā€œknackā€ thing really and once you get it there’s no problem with it and, as has been said, it does seem to bed in with a little use.

On the whole though I have to say I am very impressed but I guess I could be considered a little biased however, I am also more than a bit fussy about washing machines.

    K.

I should have been more specific when I mentioned a rattle. There’s no rattle during the cycles simply a slight “crudeness” in way the drop down door closes.

The rattle detracts from the quality image. But hey now I am getting picky. 8) My machine as been trouble free but on arrival it came with a faulty connection which required a service call straight away. In those days ASKO had a presence in the UK (now handed over to Maytag) . I too raised the issue about the pull down door rattling. He told me that when they first brought the drop down door out it was dampened and also had a cut off switch. However they had problems with children pulling down the door and standing on it (Swedish children must be as bad as ours). Hence the current design of the door, but it does not always rattle however mine is an old model so max spin 1500

Strip of magnetic rubber. Rattle be gone. šŸ˜€

Is this a straightforward job or one best left to a service engineer?

Long time lurker on these boards.

We installed one of the magnetic water devices and it works. I know the physics is meant to be so much mumbo jumbo but the proof of the pudding is in the heating.

We live in a very hard water area: at one time our electric kettles and gas water heater needed regular descaling. We also got build-ups of limescale in the bathroom.

Since the device was installed it just hasn’t been necesssary and we presume that it has the same effect on our washing machine.

    Just my two’appeth.
