ParticipantRe: Need new oven – opinions please?
I saw both machines (Bosch and Neff) in my local Currys. The sticker on each appliance said “Made in Spain”.
This article says:
Recently BSH have moved the bottom end Bosch brand slightly downmarket into the high volume, low cost sector using machines made in Spain in the Balay factory.
So I guess it is quite logical to conclude that:
1. Both Bosch and Neff I mentioned are low-end machines (just look at their manufacturer’s website).
2. On both machines sticker says “Made in Spain”.
3. This website says that low-end Bosch and Neff made in Spain by Balay.
4. Conclusion – these machines are Balay-made.Is there anything wrong with such logic? 🙂
BTW, I am in serious trouble now… Mrs saw Hoover HFO415 in our local Homebase and she absolutely sold on it. 🙁 She likes it even more than Rangemaster (Bosch and Neff she doesn’t like at all). Ah well…

BTW, both Bosch and Neff I mentioned above are made in Spain. Does that mean these are actually Balay?

OK, thank you 🙂 I guess that be it, just need to find some stockist in my area.
My credit card gives me 3 years of additional warranty (starts after manufacturer’s warranty expiration date) for any electrical product I buy with the card, so in case of Bosch/Neff or Rangemaster I’ll have 5 years of peace of mind.
Until my better half decides to redecorate something, that’s it 🙁

Thanks.
Apparently she decided that cream colour will do as well (she saw Rangemaster oven on web :)). I never heard about Rangemaster before, TBH. Are they any good? The Rangemaster 76130 seems to be perfect as it is short, 13A and got that dual-heater-fan-assisted-whatever.
The Rangemaster 76130 can be had for 325 quid delivered, which is well within my budget.

I like CDA’s design too, but the trouble is that I can’t find any stockist in my area. My better half refuses to order anything without seeing it in flesh first 🙁
donThis is exactly my thoughts… just need to think on how to explain this to my wife.
Is Hoover definitely no-go?Kommunist

What oven would you recommend?
I take it that Beko, Matsui, Fagor, New World and the likes are not worth second look, right?
Which leaves Zanussi/Electrolux/TricityBendix and Bosch/Siemens/Neff in the equation. I feel comfortable buying anything made by Merloni. Whirlpool and Hoover. For aestetical reasons I like Neff B1322W1GB. I know they are part of BSH, but given amount of postings on this forum with titles like “My NEFF is not working, help!” 🙂 are they any good?

Yes, you were right, it is indeed in a region of a ton. 🙁
Given that the oven is 10+ years old and looks a bit tatty, to say the least, wouldn’t it be better to buy a new one? All I need is a fan-assisted single oven (60cm) which could be hardwired to 13A outlet. Featurewise there should be interior light and fan, that’s it. Preferrably no timer whatsoever 🙂
I am thinking about Bosch HBN131220B or Neff B1322W1GB.
Can stretch more (upto, say 500 quid) but rather prefer not to. I was even looking at el cheapo Cookworks from Argos for 140 quid and it seems to be okay featurewise 🙂
What would you recommend? Should I buy a new one?

Thanks again.
I just emailed Dave asking for clock unit price. I guess if it could be done as a DIY job, then I might go for it. If not, then I need to think about the consequences to my wallet. 🙁

Thank you for your reply, kwatt!
Do you recon that asking an engineer to bridge the unit will be cheaper than replacing clock unit?
My wife simply hates the digital clocks on any kitchen product, so no-one would cry about it.Also can you please tell me what is the going rate for new oven installation? (sorry if this is against forum rules) Being software engineer I supposed to be OK with electricals, but somehow do not feel confident playing with oven, especially if hardwiring is involved.

ParticipantRe: Thinking of buying Zanussi ZNB4051
Thank you.
I never had Zanussi fridge before, so I wasn’t quite sure whether it is good value for money. And the lack of information/reviews was quite worrying. After your reply it seems that my worries are unfounded, so I think I’ll buy one.
Thanks again!

ParticipantRe: Hoover HNWL7136 Washer Dryer – any good?
Thanks for that. I just had a call with Hoover and they told me that this machine doesn’t allow to change spin speed – they said it is preprogrammed so that customers should not worry about it. 😯
No Hoover then. -
