Yeah, I’ve recieved a copy of it twice via an anonymous email address and I’m not going to publish it on UKW, nor is anyone else, if they do I will delete it immediately. Such a thing could only have come from the inside so someone is not a happy bunny in the camp I’d assume as no agents would have the information and I’ve spoken with a couple that have not recieved this as well as one or two that have.

I cannot control the flow of information or who sends what to whom but let me make it abundantly clear, this email is not to be published or made available for download from UK Whitegoods in any way, shape or form! The last thing I want is a gaggle of Whirlpool solicitors baying for my blood or anyone else’s on here.

I don’t mind a discussion on the rates paid but no saying who’s getting paid what please in the forums since it’s not a standard rate. That does not exclude you from saying that you are in the lower, middle or top end of the spectrum outlined.

That goes for the Whirlpool forum as well, thanks.

I hope that’s a clear enough position and easy for everyone to follow.

They don’t need to it’s something to do with a civil action, you have to prove you didn’t give out false, misleading or incorrect information. You also cannot ascertain the capability of the customer to carry out the tasks, that’s the biggest reason.

It was a huge sprawling debate a while back on the old mail list and I think that as long as you do not give a blow-by-blow account of how to do a job you’re pretty much okay, but it’s a fine line TBH.

No 13, I checked it with a lawyer, you can be held accountable if the punter fries themselves on the strength of your advice, fact I’m afraid.

    Battang,

There are four versions of this machine so you’ll need all the numbers off the rating plate to be absolutely sure for a price on the motor but it is made by Brandt. Comet are corect in that the motor brushes are not shown as a seperate item so, unless someone happens to know, visually matching them is the only option I’m afraid. That’s if there is anything to match available which there is likely to be, but no guarantee. πŸ˜•

I thought they were re-badged Brandt’s but I have no note of the crossovers and Agora doesn’t shed any light on it either. πŸ™

    Sorry, I did try.

    Re: GB DAR

Since this thread started I was desperately unhappy about the “abortive” fees, the spares pricies as well as the high quantity of no-access calls, the low fees were another matter. However in the past week or so there have been calls placed then cancelled at the last minute, three calls for today getting cancelled at 11.11am was the final straw.

    I have not terminated GBDAR, if they wish to terminate me then that’s up to them but I will no longer work for them under the current conditions. The conditions I have given them to continue are;

    GBDAR Criteria

    1. Pre-booked calls will be accepted as un-timed only, no AM/PM calls without prior arrangement to check that it fits with out scheduling for the week.
    2. Pre-booked calls may have to be re-arranged with the customer as we are not in all postcodes every day, especially in regard to rural areas.
    3. Call cancellations will be accepted up to 3pm the day before the call is due to take place, after that deadline expires we are committed to the call and the call will have to be paid for as we have allocated an engineer’s time for it.
    4. Abortive calls at half-fee will not be accepted, full fee on every call.
    5. Pre-booked calls were there is no-access and we call as arranged will be charged for at the full fee.
    6. Calls to mobile telephones will incur a fee of Β£1 per call.
    7. End of day information will not be supplied.

I do not see this as unreasonable and I will explain my thinking point by point.

    1. We are often booking AM/PM calls days in advance to suit our customers and other clients and I am not prepared to jeapordise other business by attempting to accept calls booked in this manner.

    2. Self-explanatory and no doubt many people have this issue.

    3. Again, self-explanatory but I book off space and therefore time to do these calls and, more often than not, shunt work to get it done that would have been done faster and made money rather than nothing but aggro.

    4. Bone of contention, feel free to discuss. πŸ˜‰ It’s also a sore point on other contracts as well, but a particularly nasty one for GBDAR as the fee doesn’t even cover the cost of the visit, or anywhere even near it!

    5. Again, why should I accept a loss because the customer is not in when I didn’t even arrange the call?

    6. Another bone of contention, especially on such low rates.

    7. A waste of time that I do not have and the rates do not merit going to such lengths.

That’s all folks, the ball’s in GBDAR’s court.
