KeymasterDave & I are evaluating some stuff, stay tuned and we’ll get back to you on it. 😉

Keymaster11Mbs is 802.11b and in real world terms about 6Mbs in a reasonable range.
54Mbs is 802.11g and is better but still not perfect.
Both are very useful for specific tasks, neither is secure. If you want security get wires, there is no substitute for security and performance. Basically the difference is in the speed that the wireless protocal transmits the data, the more Mbs the faster it is.
As for broadband providers, look at http://www.adslguide.org.uk for the layest and greatest, but either Zen or Eclipse seem to be the best choice right now.

Best of British.

KeymasterThat would be Bill Ellis then. 😉
Yes I agree, a tad OTT.

KeymasterOoohhh….naughty, very naughty!
I’d just contra the account and send them a counter claim for the balance and sod it. If they wantto go to court I doubt a judge would look too favourably on it TBH.

KeymasterAnnouncements are generally for moderators and site admin to announce something important, hence they sit at the top of the forum.
Next is the sticky ones, which are supposed to be important or of note, worth reading. If there’s no activity on the thread for a while we’ll generally remove the “sticky” status and let the thread fall back as normal.
I’m not one for rigidly enforcing rules on this, I tend to think that most people have enough savvy to suss it themselves when to use or not to the different functions but if there are any questions please feel free to ask.

KeymasterDepends on who you work for but the “normal” salary for an engineer is £18-25K dependent on skills, area and experience.

KeymasterI hear on the grapevine today that GBDAR have gotten Haier now, is this true? Should be interesting as British Gas had the laundry apparently and EAC the refrigeration and I’d bet a month’s pay neither of them were doing the work for £31 a call!

KeymasterI’m guessing Alex won’t be too welcome in Liverpool now then eh? 😉
I remember those Candy cars as well, never won anything IIRC. I remember the sponsorship with Liverpool too, IIRC they went on a losing streak as well. The moral of the story is….
😆

KeymasterNow who could that possibly be? (He asks innocently wondering who Miss Moneybags works for! ;))

KeymasterAh well I ordered some gear, with any luck it will be here for the DASA meeting.
And no, I’m not going to be modelling Ted’s thong, bet that brought a sigh of relief. 😆
This won’t…..I’m gonna get Ted to model it! 😯

KeymasterWell after having agreed a return of spares with Tony Gaimes a year or so ago and it never happening I finally got fed up looking at the Candy/Hoover stock. I hired a skip, it’s all now in it! 😕
There is over £5K’s worth of stock in there, probably close on £8K but it is of no value if you can’t sell it or send it back. Agency work for a manufacturer is just so much fun and makes so much money…NOT!
I will remember GIAS for this though as I’m sure many others in the trade will also, we got shafted by them.
Even the bloody skip to get rid of it cost me £56. 🙁

KeymasterRe: GB DAR
😆 A humourous moment provided, courtesy of Servis UK/GBDAR 😆
I had to call Marsh for authority this afternoon to replace a motor and a module so the chap gets the details up and asks what parts it needs…
“Ah, just write that one off mate, but what was the total cost anyway?”
He didn’t even ask the price before telling me it was a write-off! Just shows you though how undervalued these appliances are and over priced the spares are as he said it was the tenth one he’d written off for motor and/or module today alone. Sad innit?

KeymasterWell as predicted, it’s out in the open or near enough.
Dangerous game, be careful what you say with the information.
