Someone mentioned to me earlier that it wasn’t such a serious risk as the leaks on them usually put the fire out! 😆

Yeah I’m quite happy so long as D&G are paying the bills as well Alex, I have no issues with D&G at all and if I do they are always resolved very quickly and efficiently.

Samsung though, from previous experience, are not so clever and I’ve yet to speak to one single service agent that had no trouble with them over payments, stock, paperwork and technical information. Which kinda sums it up really doesn’t it?

TBH even if they offered me £60 or £70 a call I doubt I’d take it direct as life’s just too short for all the cr4p that goes with a contract like that and I don’t need or want the hassles.

And why on earth have I recieved a fax this afternoon from NESN or someone on their behalf (maybe because they’ve no-one left there to send faxes ;)) to sign and date for some account with some company called Nedis that I have no knowledge of whatsoever? Other than of course that they’re some European supplier that’s supposed to undercut everyone, been there, done that. 😉

HELLO!! I’ve not been an NESN member since Herr Trubshaw booted me out…over 6 months ago!! 😆

Hmmm, the organisational skills are shining through.

    Re: Electrue/NESN

Well the hits just keep on coming, and this post is totally unsubstantiated by any official comment but my spies tell me…

22 people were made redundant from NESN about two weeks ago. 🙁

A further 17 were sent home today at lunchtime. 🙁

Payment rates to the browngoods guys have been dropped to allow payment to the whitegoods people. For what reason I really don’t know but I expect it’s an attempt to retain any sort of network at all on whitegoods.

As for the AGM, it should be interesting as rumour has it that the losses for last year’s accounts will be about the £200,000 mark, give or take a few grand. 😯

That being the case with all that extra work how are NESN going to show a profit this year with all those redundancies and the loss of two volume contracts and the fire installation fiasco to boot?

My advice and opinion is that if you have money tied up there don’t bet on seeing it anytime soon or any return in any investment there either as this looks very grim indeed from the outside looking in. If you can, take the money and run!

Agreed Del it is as the only reports I’ve ever heard about any Korean manufacturer are bad ones, usually very bad. 🙁

That includes on the sales side in browngoods as well as white and service seems to be a joke by anyone’s standards. But if they don’t pay agents and get alienated how long is it before they cannot sell product since they can’t get it fixed when it goes wrong?

    Re: Fisher & Paykel

I just found out what the Whirlpool guys are getting paid for F&P work now! 😯

    Are you lot insane???!!!?!?!! 😕

NO WAY on God’s green Earth that I’d work on an upmarket, low volume product like that for that money, I’m afraid it would be one of those classic moments where I tell someone to insert to where the sun never reaches. 😉

Now the work from NESN has stopped at least the debt won’t continue growing.

Indeed and a very good point, once the cash-flow goes what’s going to happen? Is the company still financially viable?

Certainly with the work left and some of the contracts already knocking other doors it looks a pretty bleak future but I guess only time will tell on that front. But as an investment I wouldn’t touch it with a rubber handled bargepole!

But you’re right about crumbs Rudi, the only two cherries in the pie are gone now and all that’s left is the junk apart from some inspection work that’s okay I guess. They even got rid of one cherry of their own accord, bet they regret that smart move now! 😉

    As ever just an opinion.

And I would hazard a guess at not enough profit (if any) as well by the sounds of that.

However I do think it’s time to split this thread into its constituent parts, if someone wants to open one on Electrue and or Coverplan, please feel free to do so.

    Hi Anne,

They are not supplied as a full door, few are, and the outer door glass is listed as part number 76X8944 @ £44.37 excl VAT. It is a special order but is in stock in France.

If the glass fell out then probably the door handle and/or the lower glass retaining strip is also faulty since these two items hold it in place.

    Hope that helps.

LOL, yes IMO also one’s as bad as the other and that’s my experience of the products as they seem almost designed to be throwaway.

You didn’t actually believe a factory’s failure rate figures did you? I’ve yet to see one that’s accurate in the real world, but they make selling easier the lower the numbers or am I just being too cynical there? 😉

The problem is that it devalues the entire industry and the repair business suffers due to low cost of replacement appliances. Apart from that with the low prices of this muck they expect service done for next to nothing on low end appliances which is absolutely crazy from our perspective as they’re the ones more prone to fail!

That;s two different Merloni’s Woz, one is Antonio Merloni and the other Vittorio (IIRC) and they are brothers. There is a huge crossover in product though, or in spares at least between the two companies.

    The legend is thus:

The brothers took the business over from their father and then proceeded to have a little tiff. One of the brothers goes over the road from the original factory and starts manufacturing in direct competition.

From that point on Vittorio collected brand names like Scout badges and Antonio became Europe’s largest purveyor of “any name you want on it” appliances. Although recently we’ve seen Antonio snapping up brands as well, like Servis and Asko. But I have heard tell that the landed cost of a branded appliance from Antonio is very low, for example, a normal 1300 washer landed to a UK port is £98 including taxes, obviously without warranty.

So, given that information it raises several questions for the Merloni’s of the world but the one I like is; is it any wonder the products are percieved as cr4p and suffers reliability problems? Bursting into flames is only an extreme of the basic problems.

Anyone heard anything about work picked up from Endeva? I have heard vague mutterings of an employee or agent touting some work about NESN agents.

I have no idea what it’s about as the information was sketchy.

It’s the usual media thing, mountains from molehills to a degree but grounded in fact otherwise they’d get sued. Anyway, it’s pretty obvious that there is/was a problem.
