KeymasterJust heard that this planned has now been scrapped again according to the grapevine.
Maybe we are getting through after all!

KeymasterAny more on this yet? I’m assuming that they haven’t done a swift u-turn yet? š

KeymasterI only changed the server.
But Don, Grouse! For goodness sakes is that what we’re reduced to in here, drinking the cheap muck we give to the tourists? š
Remind me and I’ll look out for some real stuff for you, the cask strength gear, Bowmore is particularly nice I think and the 17yr old ain’t too shabby either.
Mind you I’ve yet to find a malt I don’t like. š And I don’t drink it when I’m out as it’s too dangerous to do so, as well as damned expensive because they don’t last very long.

KeymasterSo basically it’s cheap and quick to get them in front of a judge then, good. š
The only problem is that knowing the parties involved you’re liable to be instantly terminated for daring to speak out and taken to court as you breached confidentiality by raising a court action! š
I’m sure you’d rather see your own business in the toilet before these chancers wouldn’t you?
(Note: sarcasm doesn’t work too well over the net š )

Now I’m squirming in my seat! I can’t say too much, or watch what i say, for fears of legal retribution from some of our “friends” since they like to play that game a lot.
Once it’s fact and in the public domain though the chances of shutting me up are, well…ZERO! š

ted wrote:I’m no business man, just having to learn new skills to make sure we pay our bills, but I do know that you can’t make a profit and invest in your future if you sell yourself to cheap.
Neither am I, never took a qualification in business studies in my life but I’m a demon with a calculator and a spreadsheet and was taught the old fashioned way how to work out profitability the way AEG did when they were really AEG. Including how to work out margins the correct way not the way they teach you now, which is incorrect mainly. Is a 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} mark up reall a 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} mark up, work that one out as most people calculate it incorrectly.
The point about selling yourself cheap is very valid and one I keep banging on about. In everything you do you have to show profitability from each service you perform, I would bet that most are not doing so in this industry, myself included in some cases.

KeymasterWell it’s a Brandt in disguise!
31X8271 is the part number for the 3-sided seal price code E6, which sounds painful.
I’m gonna send you a price matrix for Brandt soon! š
I’ll check the price tomorrow for you but it’s easy enough to add to that other bit you needed.

which is the best joke that has ever been played on the whitegoods trade.Pity it’s not the only joke, but I’d have to concur.
Del wrote:Can you see the funny side lad’s ? NO NIETHER CAN I !
Nope, it’s not in the least bit funny if you ask me.
Del wrote:If I could go back to the hour before I decided to go down the Corgi route would I do it ? IN A HEARTBEAT !
Sad isn’t it, you get more skilled, higher costs and get little or no reward for your efforts. But the kicker for me is, where’s the incentive to carry on and where’s the incentive for anyone fresh to come into the field?
No wonder we have a shortage of engineers!

Thanks, it makes it so much easier to reply to! š
Rudolph_Hucker wrote:The biggest bone of contention at present, and affects agents of Smelly old Town, is this inspection malarkey they have come up with.
That’s not the only bone of contention but I guess if anyone comes up and says they’re taking thousands off your payments for events that were outwith your control then it’s gonna upset you somewhat. An especially nice surprise Christmas present…well I guess not. š
Rudolph_Hucker wrote:Iām sure there will be very little in the way of a positive response to any of that.
We are being tried and sentenced without a jury, no means of submitting a defence or anything. This is a kangaroo court.
On point one, no, I reckon you’ve more chance of seeing a snowball showdown with Beelzebub on his home turf! I also think the chances of the poor buggers affected getting their money have the same chance.
On point two, it’s not the first time cr4p like this has happened and no doubt it won’t be the last attempt at this sort of nonsense either I just hope everyone affected has the good sense to take action of some kind and show that they won’t be pushed about like this.

As far as I know it is, hence loads of work being passed out where engineers are unavailable and we get bombarded with work during holiday periods.
Plus we’re cheap and grateful for the scraps. š

KeymasterTo inject a bit of humour in this thread…
I was having a conversation last night where I dropped that I’d let some of my local competitors pick up this work and run with it, in fact I’ll happily pass on their names to some of these companies so they can get agents. See, I am a generous soul after all.
It cuts down the competition after a while when they go bust and I can pick up the decent work! š š

KeymasterSadly the model number is on a rating plate inside the door on the leading edge of most from memory.
There is a lock in most that slides across the top edge of the door, if you can get to it push the catch to the right as you look at it (from memory I could be wrong) and that should release the door.
It should have released after that length of time so my guess is it’s a failure in the lock. Total pain as the screws that hold the appliance in are behind the bit you have to open.

Keymasterš Thanks for that! The head is fine, was this morning as well, we’ll just not go any further than that eh. š
