😳 I forgot my acidic remark about this!

Bonzaco, you’ll probably find that they’ve just worked out that it’s cheaper to use idiots like us that will work, effectively, for free! 😕

I could have a rant on that point, but I’ll leave it be for now.

BFGT, I don’t mind you advertising your services here once at all, but you cannot alter the size or colour of the header, it’s locked to be the same as all the rest. You will not be able to make it stand out.

I meant to say that after my posts of the last two days or so that I can almost hear that “ker-ching” of solicitiors cash registers on Monday morning as they all scamper off to see what legal steps they can take to shut me up. Good luck with that endeavour I say, free speech is a pre-requisite of a democractic society!

I look forward to making very public any actions that are taken against myself, the site or any member of this website and exposing any actions taken. But I’d be far more weloming of some dialogue and sensible remidies as opposed to draconian measures to silence anyone on this site that happens to have a personal opinion to air in front of an audience of their peers and collegues within the industry.

All I would do is point out the rules of this forum and, indeed, the terms and conditions of use for the site in general.

I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain, like many others here, have a nice day! 😀

    Alex,

You’ve been around the block with all this kind of nonsense over the years just as much as I have and you will, just as I am, be fully aware that this sort of thing has gone on for years. In my personal opinion it’s gone on for far too long, for too long the WP’s in particular have taken advantage of our fears of not having enough work and so on. We’ve seen it all before, Power Network, British Gas, Repair & Care, Mastercare, Philco, Candy, Zanussi… the list is endless of those that have played out corporate games with little, but mostly, absolutely no regard for us at all and contibuted very nicely to the demise of this industry putting it in the state it’s in now.

So this scenario we have now with the WPs is nothing new.

What is new is that we are all now communitating very well and starting to come together as an industry, that’s what’s changed and I’d bet that you squirming in your seat is just exactly what some of these people are doing. They will no longer be able to extract the proveribial in the nefarious ways that they have done so in the past and I think it’s brilliant!

I, like most people using this site and many outwith it, are more than open to listen to sensible remidies and offers of work, but that I’m afraid, is something that is entirely out of my hands.

The offer of negotiation was never closed at any time to anyone or by anyone I know of that uses this website.

All I need do is to point out how the agents have been coerced and beaten into a corner by politics and, essentially, that’s what it is, just politics. That was not a situation created by we lowly service agents, just one we got snarled up in. 🙄

But then when you have behaviour like banning members from holding a meeting to attempt to find a resolution as happened this week there’s gonna be a backlash as that’s just out of order.

Ah right Rudi I missed this the other day with all that’s been happening in that thread of late but it makes perfect sense when you join the dots doesn’t it?

WP reputedly in trouble trying to save money so uses this as a way of stalling off the inevitable and clawing some money back in from it’s own agents.

    Ho hum. 😕

Yes it would indeed make a story in fact I was just commenting today that you couldn’t write a story this full of double dealing and intrigue if you tried! The problem is getting anyone interested in it.

    Re: Electrue/NESN

Well folks the hits just keep on coming…

I knew of this a while ago, or at least that it was a possibility but I (and other people also with the information) could not say anything as it could have risked the source of the information and that could have lost them their job. I like to think we have the moral high ground and I will not break a confidence (as many of you well know) so I waited until it was safe to post about this and now it is, since it’s in the open now.

This could get quite technical in parts, so please bear with me on this and, yet again, this is purely a personal opinion and comment based on the information that I have.

I have had three NESN members on the phone between yesterday and today complaining about money being taken off them by NESN for “site inspections” carried out for work carried out at some time in the past. For each site inspection they have been charged £40! As I’m sure you can appreciate this adds up to some considerable amounts in some cases, figures of many thousands of pounds have been banded about already. In each case there is no option in it, the member has been charged with the decision already taken to charge them irrespective. Some have already had funds removed from their payments without any consent or notice to the member.

Of course no agent knows who carried out these inspections or why yet they are being charged for them. Is this a scam by NESN to claw back money or is it genuine, who knows?

This is not exactly the cuddly, caring NESN currently being portrayed by its directors and assorted lapdogs is it?

Okay, so here’s my take on it. NESN took on the contract under which this work was carried out, NESN passed the calls to the agent therefore NESN have ultimate responsibility to ensure that you get paid for the work that you carried out at the agreed rates. It’s that simple.

Now, retrospectively, they come back and charge you for additional works that you had no knowledge of, did not consent to and have had no chance to dispute. Nice eh?

NESN should know, like any WP, that they have to carry indemnity insurance for the likes of this instance but obviously they do not have this insurance in place for this contract and it come a cropper. So instead of declaring themselves bankrupt they’ve made all the members carry the can for their own mismanagement which, to my mind, is just morally repugnant. Additionally it may well be illegal! I would suggest anyone affected by this seeks legal advice at the earliest opportunity to find out exactly what the position of this is in law as I have a feeling that they could be on a loser here.

Now, this type of indemnity insurance is what you need to cover a clause in the Electrue contract to my knowledge and no, your current policy does not give you that much cover and you will need additional insurances from what I’m told. These insurances do not come cheap! NESN had to take on that type of indemnity insurance to take on the Electrue/DSG work and that was one of the reasons cited for the high management fee on that contract.

Bearing in mind this fiasco with the current events with Electrue, NESN could be on a very shaky wicket indeed financially and I have also heard tell that they have had to prop up some of their “partner companies” (yes, the ones that don’t exist) to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds lately. Laying off staff, the moving of administration to a director’s offices (which is no doubt costing as well). This is not painting a pretty picture!

Oh and, now we have the rumour (and it is only that) that the call centre may well be moved to the aforementioned director’s premises as well in a bid to save money.

Add all this up and what do we have… a recipe for imminent disaster, that’s what!

What options do you have as a member, only one, resignation!

Hence we can’t let it slip for the moment.
