KeymasterMore site news, once it’s live I’ll write it up properly on the front page but just so you lot have a heads up on it the following have been registered:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.com
http://www.ukwhitegoods.org.uk
http://www.ukwhitegoods.orgThe will all point to this site but the jewel in the crown is the .com address as that’s a 1st level job and should recieve more recognition as well as being a LOT easier to remember than .co.uk, as well as say! 😕
The .org one is also a premium one, the .org.uk costs pennies a year and it just seemed logical.
Once they are live you should be able to access the site using any of the above urls, not stunning I know, but it’s good for the search engines etc.

KeymasterBill,
Try calling Tracey Eaton Jones at D&G and discuss it with her, I’ve been talking to her for the past week or so and she is very nice, helpful and reasonable and maybe she can help you with it. D&G, in my experience, are usually pretty reasonable to deal with so it can’t hurt to ask.

KeymasterRe: Freshening Up
Alex wrote:It isn’t only the Logo, but there again there is a sea change and at last Dasa may be on the up. It will take a while, but I’m confident. Desparately need new blood though.
Yeah this is true, but I have always held that the company logo, be it good, bad or indifferent, does give an initial indication of what to expect from it. Now tell me what DASA’s says?
I always remember a CEO telling me that they changed the logo every ten years or slightly less so that the business always looked fresh and it projected an image of staying with the times, I tend to agree with that position, hence sprucing up the nwar site as well which is seriously needing refreshed.
Alex wrote:I’ve had some old Misery keep phoning me trying to find out if there is a chance he will be part of DASA-NET without becoming a member, I’ve told him, “If you aint in it, you won’t win it”. Why he doesn’t pay up & shut up, I don’t know.
Oh I wonder who that is, he wouldn’t happen to cover a postage stamp sized area in the PE postcodes would he? 😉

KeymasterYou got any links or contact numbers for that Sumphose as Dave and I have been looking at a few and have found exactly the same problems. However, it would appear that Service Director has been seriously re-jigged with realtime updating from their mobile module which could save shedloads of admin time alone.
No system is perfect BTW. 😉

KeymasterWell I can think of one old dude that may be in need of one as well as a spare battery for his phone. 😉
Or do you think we can get a two-in-one affair for him? 😆

KeymasterI’m not going to fall out with Connect or turn them away carte blanche either as they’ve done nothing to piss me off.
Yet. 😉
My issue is (as I have said over and over) DSG as they are a shower of first order bastards who would stab you in the back as quick as look at you unless they want something. For now they want something and that’s all that’s holding them in check. If they thought they could punt the work to another network (if they could find one 😕 ) they would do it in a heartbeat, I’ve seen them do it three times already and I’ve been burned once in the shuffles.
>From the top of GDA, as it was before Merloni fecked it up, they reckon that they were royally shafted by them, no surprises there. They lost shitloads of money.
Service Force was shafted by them, again no surprises. They lost shitloads of money.
The independents were shafted by them, that one was a surprise. We all lost shitloads of money.
See a pattern emerging here? 😉
It’s just the way they operate and, if you are prepared to live with that then it’s fine, if not steer clear is my advice. But you never know, maybe they have learned along the ways.

KeymasterLOL, you find that when business goes quite everything goes quiet, but it amazes me just how busy this site gets at times. Yesterday was a classic example, before lunch the site had only had just over 500 hits, before the end of the day it went mental and ended up with over 1700!
There has been 5 new sign ups in the past two days and I’ve noticed more and more IP’s hanging around for a while or repeat visitors, some of them Dave and I are fed up seeing. The sentiment being, FFS just sign up!
As long as the site is of use it will continue, but it needs constant work and promotion to an extent but Flipper is right, the beauty of it is that there is practically no restriction on what is being said other than being careful you don’t become too personal about it.
As to it being quiet, hell knows, so many people are complaining about it just now for some reason and even my mail is quiet, including mail alerts which is very weird.

KeymasterI’d generally agree with Lawrence as well if you want to kill the call on the first hit and it’s under warranty, if not I’d go for the PCB as we had a similar failure on the new A1.1 IIRC which has two of the little beggers just to make life more interesting. 😕
