And here we were laughing about that saying that she might not return, I doubt it though, surely not?

DASA is getting changed for the better I hope and anyone at the recent council meeting will see that. A lot of the things discussed there were more positive than I’ve heard for years from DASA so there is hopefully a bright future for DASA, the Network DASA scheme simply re-enforces that sentiment.

Whilst I might not have seen (or in some cases do see) eye-to-eye with DASA at times I can see the need for it to be there and, quite frankly, without changes DASA would probably continue to decline, wither and die.

However many on the council are all to aware of this and are implimenting sweeping changes in the organisation and its activities, to my mind, very much for the better. If it stays on course then DASA will emerge a stronger and far more focussed trade association that will most certainly be doing more for its members and be a lot more pro-active.

That being said though, to adress the point about fees that it is ridculous to be worrying at all about a couple of hundred quid for it? This only highlights, yet again, that we are not being paid enough for the job if we are even quibbling about that kind of paltry amount of money. I’m not lessening the argument and I take the points made about it, but I do find it amusing to a degree and very saddening in another that it is such a huge consideration.

The whole Whitegoods Group and website has applied pressure using numbers, yes there is strength in numbers and, as we’ve all seen over the past couple of years, almost all of us share and face the same problems on a day-to-day basis. We’ve also seen some good results and many problems resolved amicably because of it, which is excellent and the whole point of the excersise, but we can respond and react far faster here than DASA can in many respects.

Anyway, I do believe that DASA has a future and it will go forward just maybe not as fast as I, you or the council would like as it is governed by rules and a council etc. that we are not bound by. But then, because of the very nature of DASA it has to be that way.

Watch this space though and attend the AGM to witness first hand the changes that are sweeping DASA, I’m only a member and I’ve seen it.

You could be right bazil as I hear on the grapevine that certain monies have not been paid yet that should have been.

As well as that a contract has failed to start with no definite start date now.

This all sounds a bit vague TBH, no promises, crossed communications, poor administration, no calls back etc.

Not sounding too promising is it? 😕

The thing is, have you noticed that pattern yet with the late payments?

They are getting later and later and putting off the payment of the balance more and more, it’s gone from within a few days to a week and now been stretched still further. How long until the late payment crosses the following month’s payment? At that point the guy’s that are working will get still further confused by the accounting and simply will not have a clue where they are with NESN, if they do to any degree as things stand now.

NESN are being quite strategic in their payments by trying to ensure that the agent pays 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the Electrue bill whilst retaining a large chunk of cash to fund themselves and, of course, retianing that money from the only place they can – the agents! 🙁

Indeed, but don’t tell him till the end of the week, i.e. post it on the whitegoods mail list! 😉

I thought that the token accountant had said something? Maybe not.

Anyway, if it’s not paid soon there’s gonna be a lot of unhappy campers heading for Stoke.

There are a lot of companies out there that will never forgive or forget the way it was passed out to GDA in Sept. 2000 and with only 2 weeks notice.

Yes, there are a few ex-Mastercare & Philco agents who were and still are to a large extent a little, peeved, will we say! 😉

I see you remember the history of the whole sordid affair as well as many of us Rudolph, once bitten etc.

Indeed, the sad part is it’s probably going to be another case of many repairers taking a big hit for something that they have no control over, again!

Yes, I agree. If I go and do the work on behalf of anyone then payment is refused for whatever reason, be it that they cannot settle the account or that they do not agree the costs etc., that’s it as far as I am concerned the contract is voided.

This is because basically the contract sets out the terms or parameters in which we work with the company concerned and I think we all apply some common sense here and try to resolve any disputes as best we can. However, when it comes to non-payment for your services I would noramally try to resolve the situation amicably first and then get stroppy about it.

I have had to do this with several recently. 🙁 The latest fight I’m going to have is probably with the trade’s most notorious contract cancellation of all time – Brandt!

My take on it would be that within the trade it’s okay as you would have to assume that anyone in here (as I do check as far as is possible) is in the trade and is competent to repair an appliance although they may need model specific guidance but not the “how to” basics. If that makes sense.
