KeymasterRead more into it.
What they are trying to do is stop the sealed tank, bonded seals, programmed boards that nobody but OEM can replace and so on. Pick an example of anything the hampers repair, that’s what they want to prevent.
In short, trying to make things more repairable and, more cost-effective to repair. This is the first baby step. It will progress.
It applies (or will) to all sold within the EU. It does not apply to any other territory though the EU often leads the field in this sort of thing.
For the industry at large (ignoring makers for a sec) there is no downside to this. It is to be applauded.
It is not specifically aimed at whitegoods, the aim is way wider than that.

KeymasterI hate to break it to you but, “them in Brussels” didn’t vote to erect trade barriers, nor anyone in any other EU country. They didn’t impose them at all, the UK did that all but itself, to itself by leaving the single market.
The UK chose to become a third country and is being treated as such and, even many that voted for Brexit and the current government don’t like that. Which I get as that’s not what they were sold by the whole Vote Leave gang, Farage, the current government and so on.
So all that befalls the UK is down to the UK, it’s got bugger all to do with the EU. If anything the EU has tried to smooth things.
And, for the record, unless you import and export you probably have little to no idea what the costs are and I’m not being mean or anything when I say this, just factual.
Since 1st Jan we now have to pay upwards of £500 extra for a ~£4K shipment from the EU due to customs handling fees by agents and carriers cost that before then simply didn’t exist as there was no need, no customs costs. Guess where those costs are going… straight onto the end buyer’s bills.
Not to mention the delays.
Some things will get better but, next month into the following as the additional UK side checks (as mandated in international law, WTO terms) kick in those delays and costs **WILL** rise and it **WILL** get worse. This is not speculation or hearsay, it’s a cold, hard immutable fact.
And the Northern Ireland problem will not cure itself either, that could quite possibly get worse.
It is simply not cost-effective for us to ship small orders to any EU state or NI as the administrative cost and burden to do so is greater than the margins and we’re far from alone, this cuts both ways both into and out of the UK so it turns out that exports have dropped off a cliff.
If you then consider that the UK makes money by selling goods and services that, due to the state the country finds itself in, it cannot do effectively then you will quickly begin to realise that the revenues to the country coffers will drop, dramatically over this year due to that let alone the pandemic. The country does not make money with only its internal market, that is a complete fallacy if you are led to believe it is the case, it’s just not. But then, we can’t even trade within the UK on equal terms as parts of it have effectively been shut off.
Many people will be sticking their fingers in their ears and ignoring this, not their problem… but it is. If that drops significantly the tax take drops. If the tax take drops then HMG starts to run out of money. If HMG starts to run out of money you get no o degraded services as there’s no money to pay for it.
Like, oh you know, paying nurses.
Preventing tax hikes, council tax rises, roads, schools, social care…. the list is endless.
Not to mention the huge additional costs imposed by border controls that, a few months ago just were not needed, lorry parks, customs staff etc, etc.
That is all on HMG, us, Nobody else. To blame anyone else for the mess the UK finds itself in is disingenuous at best, out and out deceitful at worst.

KeymasterSome of the button numbers they give are there, they’re hidden behind the button pad so even though it looks like they’re not there, they are. From memory.
If it’s the correct manual it shows the positions of them on it.
And it is the WM25 series.

KeymasterI’d need to try to remember at some point tomorrow afternoon to look up the programming stuff for that board as some of the functions can be altered depending on the spec. That’s the first I’ll get a chance at best, sorry, been a bit busy.

KeymasterBrace yourself as it’s gonna get worse when HMG are pretty much forced, as I understand it, to impose customs checks on inbound goods in June under WTO rules. To be carried out by staff they do not have and inspected in facilities that do not exist.
For now, they’re waving stuff through more or less. When that stops, it’s possible that we’ll have total chaos, correction, more chaos.
And prices are already rising, some significantly.
Already I just got slapped with a hefty bill for import charges on an order that means prices from that supplier, best case, are all going up by 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} minimum. That cost, before Brexit, did not exist.
Many, many delays that vary and are unavoidable, some you guys may not see yet but getting orders from large EU suppliers or some manufacturers, as above, plus a week or two of delay as the agents deal with the haulage.
But heh, we can all bask in that sovereignty eh?

KeymasterThe inner element on the grill would still work.
A cutout etc is possible but not likely with the grill working.
Thermostat, possible yes.
But on those ovens the lower element does seem to go for some reason.

KeymasterThanks and the outer of the upper element should be on when in use for the oven so I’d check that.
