KeymasterThat would be possible but without being able to look at it for you I don’t know, one of the guys might see this who has access or is familiar with them.

KeymasterSorry but I don’t have access to Samsung tech info, I don’t know if anyone does on here now as they changed it and made it very secure and open only to service agents.

KeymasterThe new one just needs to sit where the old one was.

KeymasterDrilling is a very, very bad idea for two reasons, if you hit a pipe the unit is scrap, cannot be repaired. If you damage insulation and moisture gets in there, the unit is scrap.
That phial should just pull out.

KeymasterYep.
It’s actually very scary when you start to dig into this stuff, I was to research an article (here if you’re interested) about updates and stuff but OMG what a minefield it is. Some of the things that these large companies do is despicable treating customers as little more than commodities to be milked for as much cash as possible.
I read some of it and cant help but think that if most small businesses tried some of the stunts they do we’d get locked up or at the least be treated like pariahs by customers.
I digress, the point is that the Right To Repair thing insofar as we’ve seen it thus far with trying to get test and tech info is just the tip of the iceberg from a consumer perspective and, we’re all consumers. And, all being shafted to some degree or another.

KeymasterSorry I don’t know what you mean, the thermostat phial can only be fitted one way, there are no options.

KeymasterJeez, it gets worse, I didn’t know about this one:

That is just nuts, whitegoods makers going the same way as the despised printer makers for doing the same “stuff”.

KeymasterYou cannot cut it or kink it in any way! If you do, it’s done and will never work as that phial is filled with a gas that expands and contracts to operate the switch in the thermostat. Hence, if you damage that phial, the thermostat is knackered.
It will come out, they are all replaceable but how easy or hard it is varies.

KeymasterAh, okay.
It does sound like a compressor issue of some kind though.
K.
kwatt
KeymasterIf it was sitting for five years unused that could have caused issues with the compressor, they’re not really designed to sit idle for long periods of time and what you describe doesn’t sound like a sensor problem.
K.

KeymasterI can’t find any valid reason for it.
All it does is make them more complex, harder to repair and more expensive if it’s an electronic issue.

KeymasterMy first thought would be… where the old one came from.

KeymasterNo.
The phial will go into a sleeve or holder on the rear wall close the the evaporator that may be buried in the insulation and not visible. It is important it goes to the correct position or the temperature will not be sensed correctly and you can get over-freezing or not cooling correctly if it’s incorrectly positioned.
Even on spares diagrams that position will not be shown, you should be able to site it correctly from removing the old one or, working it out onsite.

KeymasterYes, you will need to track where it was and put the new one back there without kinking or breaking it.
