Ah OK, thank you Martin… I got a measurement through the 54deg cycling stat, so I think I might be safe in ordering a new timer then?

Thanks chaps…. Bazza, I thought there might be a stat in the drum, and I looked for one, but nothing seen..? It is just the filter around the door, but no stat seen… Do I take it that there should be one on this model then? There is a stat at the bottom of the machine on the exhaust….

    Re: Componant ID……

Thanks for your replies all, I have attached some pics of the PCB. The suspect piece came out of the location marked L003 on the PCB. I made the measurement when I had taken the resistor off the board, and the pic of it is at the top of this thread. I am starting to get a little concerned when ‘Chokes’ are mentioned..! :eeek: Not looking as straight forward as I had hoped.. ❗

Mmm, I have to say, sometimes the bands are not so easy to make out re the colours etc. I thought someone might recognise the one I have posted. On my calculation, I make it a 470ohm resistor. I was hoping to try a repair. It is a scrapped machine, and w ould be a good project to try.

    Re: Componant ID……

Thanks Mike, no, it isnt open circuit, it gives a reading of 0.8 ohms, so I thought that although it was not open circuit, it was not up to its correct value and that was why the machine might not be not operating..? I have checked the in line components visually, and all look ok.

    Re: Componant ID……

Thanks guys… I found the thread you were talking about Chezza, and the content is similar to my problem.
I make it a 470ohm resistor with a 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} + or – on the link Dave sent. The colours on the resistor look like – Yellow – Violet – Brown – Gold. Seems high ohm’s compared to what the guys were dealing with on the thread mentioned by Chezza though !

    Re: PCB componant identification

Yes, it is definately the fact that they have blown…. when I took the board out and inspected it, both the triac and the resistor had blown off the board..! they were lying in the plastic case that surrounds the board.!… I think it is the door lock that caused the problem….

    Re: PCB componant identification

Thanks for your information and advice people, just what I wanted.. 😀 … I have to say though, I did not think about the possibility of having to reconfigure the machine after any such repairs as stated by Martin..!! :eeek:
The customer has writen this machine off, so I was going to use the opportunity as a project, as I have not tried it before, and see if I can resurect it so to speak. But if after having replaced the parts, I have to reconfigure the machine after, that is more expense, so whats the point… Has anyone done this before, who knows the answer… or what is the consensus of opinion, that I WILL have to reconfigure after replacement, or that I MIGHT have to..? I would be interested in your comments.

    Thanks people.

Just an update….. After taking off the connections from the PCB, cleaning and replacing, the machine is now up and running.
    Thanks a lot.

    Re: Hotpoint Aquarius WF 541G

Not as yet no…the machine seems to have settled down asfter I disconected and then reconected the conections onthe board….so I hope it was a dodgy conection…. I have asked the customer to let me know if it starts flashing again…. I will then have a look at the capacitor….thanks..

    Re: No seperate heater thermister…

Thanks a lot for the info and assistance guys and gal…much appreciated..
I took your advice Martin, and looked around for other suppliers etc, and found a few, and they are cheaper than Connect to…. so I have ordered the heater from one of them…
    Thanks again all…..

    Re: No seperate heater thermister…

Yes, iadom, you are correct, where I put iadom in my reply, it should have been Martin…. sorry Martin for my fopar…. much obliged to you all anyway, and for the swift responce… I have to say, I seem to be getting the impression that the saga behind the ‘wrong’ part I received from Connect is not something out of the ordinary…!! Well, thanks again chaps…fore armed is fore warned….
Can I ask you Martin where you got or found the part number for the heater for this machine please, or indeed any machine for that matter… for my future reference…. I am just starting out in this field, and I have the feeling I will be on here a lot in the future… 😐

    Re: No seperate heater thermister…

    Hi Guy’s
I ordered it from Connect….. I have just now been set up with the on line account there, and when I put the part number into the search as given by iadom, it comes up with a heater with Thermister as stated, so I have been sent the wrong ****** part..!! My first order goes wrong…! I hope this is not a sign of things to come…lol..
Although the part number search came up with the correct heater, the number it has been given by connect is different on their site is a different one, why is the number as given by iadom not displayed.? surely it would make things a little clearer.! iadom, where did you get the part number from for my future reference please..?

    Thanks a lot….
