ParticipantRe: Unusual or defined Fault?
Ironic, Both machines were AWM Range, both similar age, can’t complain though, wish all jobs were easy-fix loctite solutions. 🙂

ParticipantRe: You saw it first here….
It sounds very good but will filling it with clean crockery and cutlery for test purposes totally confuse it? 😕

ParticipantRe: New Bearing on Zanussi WDJ1294
Level of difficulty of this repair is “Way beyond basic DIY” I would suspect that corrosion on the shaft will prevent an efficient water seal and the repair may not last long. I rarely change bearings without replacing the shaft but who knows? you may be lucky 😀

ParticipantRe: Sale of Dangerous Parts to the Public.
Trust Corgi to rely on what the government said they were going to do, what do they fall back on now the government has scrapped the “Homeowners Pack”? In an ideal world any work carried out on electrical or gas appliances or installations should only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel. In the event of “accidents” where insurance claims are made surely the insurers should investigate and refuse payment on DIY or unqualified repairs.

Can’t find the required info on this model and I’m unfamiliar with the controls, digital or analogue? 😕

ParticipantRe: Homark oven has stopped working, not sure why
I would suspect the oven has been put into “Auto” mode, would need Model Number to suggest remedy. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Happy memories eh Jim? 😀
I agree with iadom, an old an obscure parts thread would definately be a fun forum, there are a lot of us oldies out there with bits and bobs that have been shoved to back of the workshop because you never know, it might be useful someday. Technological advances make this highly unlikely but some of us just like to hoard. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Cold Calls
maltheviking, I really like the idea of puting these nuisances on the back foot and having an amount of fun, not with them, but at them. Any means of making these people realise that we despise their intrusions into our work and homelife has to be pursued, hopefully they’ll all go home having had such a miserable day they’ll all resign. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Dammed if you do,Dammed if you, don’t
Client Meddling is and always will be a problem, often they generate much more work than was originally necessary, to save hassle on Labour charges I always inform customers before attending that there is a fixed fee for effecting a repair regardless of time consumed or how simple the solution may appear. If the job takes 10 minutes or two hours the fixed fee remains the same. this seems to be acceptable to most. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Electric freestanding with child proof controls
An unusual feature that most manufacturers seem reluctant to incorporate, I cannot find any others and could sympathise with manufacturers, very little can be titled “Child Proof”, their little minds and fingers will find ways to explore that are hard to imagine. Most manufacturers, while having good safety features, would be reluctant to state “Child Proof” for fear of later Litigation.

ParticipantRe: Candy CS 455 Stuck on Cycle
Problem is still likely to re-occur until the source of leak is found, strongly suggest further investigation to prevent problem becoming worse.
