Bet you didn’t break the two red indicator lights like I my fully registered friend id 😮 – when they removed the front pannel.
Now need a way to repair it.

Thanks Dave for your thoughts. My fully registered friend has had a look;) and checked the continuity of the wire from the switch to the element and that is ok. The switch itself although is not notchy or anything the points are all a bit black and the section on the cam that controls the element in question does look slightly burnt and has a slightly small notch out of it. Its position 9 and on closer inspection that part of the cam is a flat square that looks like it should be pressing on a point but does not because of the burnt out notch.
I think this is the one I need – is that right.

    Thanks for your help.
I suppose I need to have a look at the switch and also test the wire from the switch to the element.
One thing though – am I allowed to as it is a duel fuel range cooker with a gas hob and to get to the switch I need to lift off the hobs pressed stainless steel top plate, it fits over the burners although I do not have to touch them.

Update. Sorry for the late reply, I replaced the element and its all working as it should now. After taking the old one off I could see only a slight deformation in it.
One note for others is that the element came without a screw thread in the fixing plate holes so I had to search my box of bolt oddments to find 2 suitable m3 nut and bolts.
I did fist contact CDA but they informed me hat they no longer supply that model element.

    Yes sorry it is CD9002/1
I have also found this one https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/ele2015ego-premium-compatible-fan-oven-heating-element which says “premium” pattern at £16.96 and then there is an even cheaper one at £14. Not fancy the £14 but the £16.96 may be worth a go, not sure.

Thanks for your help. On closer inspection it does look like a slight bulge and distortion on a 3 inch section of the top of the 3 wound layers. It is screwed in from the back and by the time I have pulled it all out and got it out to test I may as well put a new one in I think. It is 7 years old which is about the age that I replaced the original one.
    Is there any on here.

Thanks. At least now that it is in bits its easier to get in the car and wont be leaking water all over the place and weighs less. I was surprised to see it actually had a dead weight sitting on top of the tub just under the lid top.
Its not all scrap though the weight thing will come in handy and I have salvaged the metal panels and cut off the folds so i have now got 3 flat steel sheets that will come in handy for some unknown future project. I have saved the outlet and inlet pipes and all the self tapping screws that I took out to dismantle it (surprisingly few actually ).
I cant help it – its what I’m like 😮

So are my 22 year old parts any use to anyone – before I take it to the tip.

Back in 2016 when it had an issue with poor cleaning at 14 year old with the help of this forum I cleaned the matrix thing that was gunged up with – gunge, the red float thing was stuck. So ever since then I have always rinsed stuff – got a bit OCD with it actually, if the missus loads it I always have to pull the plates out and check, :p, I trust her with tea cups and thats about it. 😀

I do wish that I had not brought the Bosch now and instead just gone for a £200 currys + £75 5 year guarantee, scrap after 5 years = £55 per year less than £1 a week. Or kill or cure attempt a fix myself after 5 years.

On the repair subject electrofix you were spot on with your diagnosis of a broken impeller. I dismantled to have a look.

    That element doest look flimsy.
So £130 for the part and then the cost of fitting – how much on average would that be. I can get an extra 3 years guarantee for £89.

what parts on the Hotpoint are the culprits and how much would their Hotpoint engineer cost,

Yes I did consider just going for the cheapest possible – as you say the currys one At £200. And then with the great help of this forum attempt a repair possibly after 12 months, or get a pro in and pay £? which added to the £200 = ? which could be approaching the cost of the bosch with 2 year warranty maybe.

How much is it for a new heater for the bosch on its own and then how much on top for it to be installed, could it be worth taking out the 5 year guarantee (extra 3 years ). Also would a replacement heater be a better part than the factory one ?

Maybe I should of gone for this
https://markselectrical.co.uk/HEFC2B19C_Hotpoint-Dishwasher.html it has 10 year parts and 1 year labour.

Also the heater element problem, would it make any difference if the machine is actually made in Turkey or Gremany, is the heater that is fitted in serie 2 interior the that fitted in a serie 4

Ah great. It was £17 extra to go from the highest price serie 2 to the lowest price 4

electrofix wrote:with Bosch dishwasher they give you a little round jet (3inch diameter). you can remove the top basket and lock this jet to deflect the water that normally feeds the top basket. You can then use the full height of the dishwasher for large items
    Dave

Yes I did see that mentioned in the manual that I downloaded and thought it would be handy. But in the manual it had a #1 next to that part and said “selected models only”.
So I will have to wait and see.
