It’s a Brandt built machine, so Dave might be able to scare up some info.

I’d start with the mains suppressor where the cable joins the machine. However, you will need a suitable test meter and the skill to use it safely and correctly to make a correct diagnosis.
If you can’t do this, please get some pro help. Check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.
Power off if you continue to investigate.

Well, it ain’t the finest washer ever built. If it’s in a muti share student house (5? 6?) it verges on cruelty……. (no disrespect to daughter implied).
You need to consider a budget of £300-350 for a robust appliance. Zanussi, Whirlpool and Gorenje are all adequate, personally I think that Bosch is a bit better – 2 year guarantee is nice.
Or, go mad and buy a Miele – daughter will inherit it in the distant future.

Door seal is 1242635-08/2, SSP £19.90 + VAT. We are unable to comment on the overall pricing as labour rates vary across the country. I would comment that I can fit this door gasket through the door opening in 30-40 minutes, allowing for time halfway to let my hands recover from cramp. Pulling out the tank is a long way of doing the job!

If the hot valve is continuously filling when the power is on it will be due to a transistor failure on the computer board. Part number is C00090981 and will need the eeprom transfering across from your old board. You should seriously consider a professional repair due to the complexity of the repair.
