Re: Indesit WD12 – internal breaker?

    Hi Pete,
Thanks for the curve ball 😕 ! If it had actually already died in the wash cycle, I’d check the on/off switch for a start (plastic – melts) and then have a look at the digiboard itself – blown tracks and the like.

    Luck,

Neil’s in Leeds – want me to try and track him down? We’ve known each other casually for years, so might be amenable for a chat!

You could try http://www.arien.co.uk – they’re Lancashire based.

Re: Indesit WD12 – internal breaker?

Er, no, actually. In the bottom, rear right corner of your machine (from the front aspect) is a large digital control board, in an open sided plastic box. This does it all, and if you’ve drowned it, I wouldn’t rate its chances of survival as high, especially if you’ve powered up the machine! There is no circuit protection and no reset I’m afraid.

Options are to dry everything thoroughly (especially the board!) and keep your fingers crossed, but being honest, prepare to be disappointed.

The Indesit “W” series of machines are not the world’s best quality appliances, but to be fair, most washers these day lack surface fuses and other circuit protection – even Bosch.

If this produces no positive result, Dave_Conway will be able to advise on prices – see if you can find the full model number and serial number (label on the back of the machine); it may not be as bad as you think.

Whatever you do, pull the plug first!

“You never get a drip with Jubilee Clip” was the old slogan. Manufacturers just don’t use them any more because they are slow to fit. Try and find one as close to the actual diameter as possible to ensure that it stays circular when fastened, and be very careful when getting the spring ring off – they are a lot stronger than most people realise.

    Pull the plug first………

    Gut efenink Herr Generale,

These machines were prone to inlet valve failure in the open position, also possible fault with water level control.

If you can supply the “E.No” – on the door inner panel and back panel of the appliance we may be able to diagnose a bit further.

One final point, you say that you’ve checked the filter – did you get down on hands and knees and inspect the pump chamber itself (where the propellor is)?

    Regards,
    Penguin45.

PS – please don’t hit the broadcast button again!

Sorry Andy, just wondering if the customer is stuffing the machine to bursting point 😯 rather than the 7kg limit!

Which was fine until the composition of the Laminated Brush holder changed (what was that about Brian?). I’ve got to the stage that you can only fit 1600474’s to a brand new armature, which is great as they’re going obsolete; otherwise stick with the gen 161460 and accept a faster wear rate.

    Richard,
Power light should flicker at the same time as the dial rotates. If you can let us know how many flashes occur in each group we can cross refer and maybe give you an idea of where to start looking.

In the meantime, switch machine off, set dial to a black dot and switch back on. Computer should reset, ready for programming.

The dryer section on most combi’s is not efficient, failure on this model can also induce the dial to revolve.
