    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for your reply.

Model number SGS45E02GB/45 is definitely covered by the recall.

When you say “its a mod in the timer and you fault will prob be related” how would they be related?

    Thanks for the reply electrofix.

Replaced Magnetron and now working fine. The unit does not have a capacitor, therefore was quite safe to work on once unpluged. Only an idiot would work on an inverter supplying 5000v to the magnetron whilst the unit was switched on! :rolls:

Sent the circuit board for repair to http://qer.biz/
. Capacitors & relays either not working or transmitting too low a voltage for the compressor to run. All working now for the total cost of £43.20! Circuit board had a 1 day turnaround!! 😀

“Over time it appears that the capacitor that makes up part of the firing circuit to the Compressor relay fails. There are four relays on board, three black, one orange (its the orange one that we are interested in as this enables the compressor). The relays are enabled from the microprocessor on the board via a triac controlling the switching of live onto a diode bridge and through a resistor and capacitor on the neutral side. Over a period of time the capacitor will break down and won’t be able to hold enough energy to fire the relay enabling the cooling via the compressor.”

After much searching looks like the above is the problem. May be more than one capacitor has given up on the rear PCB. I will be sending it to be checked by these guys unless someone knows where I can buy a new one at a resonable price?………..

    Just worked it out…………..

1: Tilt machine to access underneath of machine.
2: Remove earth cable and live connections from motor.
3: Stand machine upright and remove rear panel at back of machine by undoing screw at bottom of panel.
4: Remove drive belt from motor via removed rear panel.
5: Remove 2 retaining bolts holding motor in place via rear panel.
6: Pull motor towards rear panel and motor will fall out of place.
7: Remove 4 long screws holding motor together.
8: Remove Carbon Brushes and replace.
    9: Assemble in reverse.
