The water level contacts are normally open when the water level is low and closed when high. It could have a change-over switch which opens and closes. The pump – out when the switch is blown into will be you activating the overflow contacts.

Have you metered the inlet valve solenoid coils for continuity?

    Hi Bill,
There is an update up and running: a friend of mine made the VAT rate variable when it changed recently, this is up and running and works well. You can set the vat rate in a new table on the page where you open the database, and the calculations and vat rate printout on the invoice change automatically. I’ll ask her how much she’ll charge to do yours.

And she has been working on a few more updates that aren’t essential but make it easier to use. I haven’t seen these working yet though.

Re: WMA36 valve kicking during spin, after major sump blocka

Yes, that’s a good point; I’ve done that myself before now and wondered why the machine didn’t work properly after the repair!

I’ll check it first but I don’t think anyone’s interfered with it. I’ve had the same problem before on one of these and it was the pcb.

Re: WMA36 valve kicking during spin, after major sump blocka

I think it must be the electromagnetic field caused by the arcing from the worn brushes inducing currents in one of the components on the board that then switches the valve on. Those boards can do peculiar things when they go wrong. I’ve got one at the moment that won’t switch the machine off in the ‘off’ position and does whatever it feels like in the other positions.

If you suspect the board but aren’t sure you can always get one from EMW and send it back for a fiver if it isn’t that.

Re: Hotpoint FFA70 fridge freezer freezing up in the fridge.

I’ve got one of these (FFM71) on the go now with exactly the same fault. Fridge evenly iced up and freezing the food, and the freezer at about -25. To eliminate the possibility of it being slight shortage of gas I recharged it and it’s exactly the same. The sensor resistances are all in line with the correct values. According to the manual if the diverter valve is stuck in the fridge cooling position the freezer only gets minimum cooling so I’m assuming the pcb is the problem.

Rob; did a new pcb cure the fault on yours in January?

Does anybody have a schematic diagram for the internal circuits in a solid plate ?
