    Re: Hotpoint 8596 frost free

There are 3 thermistors but as far as i know the fridge thermistor is usually ok. The ones to change are the evaporator and freezer [yellow and green plug] ones. I’ve been told that sometimes poor cooling in the fridge is caused by ice build-up in the ducting between fridge and freezer , and leaving the appliance to defrost naturally solves it, but of course that wouldn’t give you a fault code. I’ve got the workshop manual for this model if you need any info from it.

    Re: Zanussi WJS1265W Not drying

    Hi,
Looking at the diagram the neutrals for the dry heaters, fan, condensing inlet valve and drain pump are all supplied via triacs or relays on the pcbs, so something’s telling the machine not to dry. Both the live and neutral to the dry heaters are also via the mechanical pressure switch, switches 11-12 and 21-22 closed [ie empty]. I’m new to these machines [see my recent query about one] and can’t help you any further at present but am continuing to look into them. You could really do with the TDS offline DVD which tells you how to go into the test prog and gives you the error codes and what to look for with each code [& muchmore] but it’s not solved my problem yet. Will report further if I come up with anything else.

I didn’t realise till today that some people subscribe to the site. Is the sub the £10 + £5/month as on the standing order mandate I’ve just downloaded? Are there any other benefits [apart from e-job weighting] from subscribing or have I just been a tight-fisted b****** for using the site free while other people have been paying for it? Geoff

    Re: Zanussi WJS1265W washing machine

Hi Dave , thanks for the reply. Yes I’ve got the TDS disc and I had found that but it doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense when you’re looking at the switch. Icertainly don’t get a ‘close circuit’ when testing across the switch contacts but an open circuit, so I suspect this is the problem. I was just hoping for confirmation from someone familiar with the problem. Geoff

OK; just thought I’d suggest it as sometimes it’s easy to miss the obvious solution that’s staring you in the face. Hope you get it sorted. Geoff

I’ve not seen one of these so forgive me if this reply is stupid but can you not just turn the door plus hinge the other way up so that you don’t have to take the hinge off the door? presumably you’d have to swap the door switch pecker over to the other side though.

Have you checked continuity across the fridge thermistor from the pcb itself to ensure there’s good contact at the edge connector? Geoff

Some tecnik appliances are on the Bosch website such as the HB3TI51 oven. A nice lady at the call centre told me the other day that they’re in the process of getting them on there.

    Re: Flooding Haier Made Dishwashers

Can someone explain what’s going on here? The Ariston LI62 dishwasher that I posted a Question about the other day is of the same design and construction as the Haier machine, and I’ve noticed that Merloni are now turning them out as Hotpoints as well. I’ve also seen them as Baumatics. So who designed them in the first place, Haier or Merloni? Did one of them sell the rights to manufacture them to the other? Is it like East European cars where VW [Ithink] sold their old production lines to Skoda? Geoff Roland.
