Re: Samsung RS31DCNS not cooling at all

Correction: the Compressor is vibrating and getting hot with fan running. So I’m guessing this means the compressor relay is fine. If the freezer is not getting cold at all is this a bigger problem?

    Any help appreciated.

Re: Samsung RS31DCNS not cooling at all

So finally finished kitchen and fitted the defrost sensor. After 4 hours both freezer and fridge temperatures remain at 20C.

When using diagnostic it gives a R-FAN ERROR although I guess this would only account for the fridge side not working.

When power is switched on there is a loud click from the ice maker, then a few seconds later a click coming from the PCB housing where everything fires up. The compressor is hot and the fan is running. Does this point to the compressor or relay? Or should I just follow the fault code and get the fridge working?

    Thanks, Chris

Edit; probably best to comment on your previous post to avoid confusion.

Re: Samsung RS31DCNS not cooling at all

    Hi Bob,

So turned off for a few days and allow it to fully defrost. Turned back on and got the same R-DEF-SENSOR error. Held two power buttons for 8 secs and the fridge fired up ok. But same problem; neither freezer nor fridge got below 9/10 degrees.

Does this still suggest the defrost sensor if *both* sides failed to even get down to temperature? I’m happy to change the sensor.

    Many thanks, Chris

Oh, and it was stored inside upright and transported upright (but obviously moved to get through doors etc).

    Cheers, Chris

Re: Samsung RS31DCNS not cooling at all

    Hi Bob,

When it comes on it shows the R-DEF-SENSOR error flashing and it I press and hold the power freeze/cool buttons everything seems to fire up with fans running etc.

Just checked the back of the fridge (after running for 24hrs+) and the bottom of the water tank has frozen frost around it.

What is the best way to proceed?

    Cheers, Chris

    Thanks – all working now.

Ordered new element from here, removed bolts from rear but had to free up screw with chisel.

Thanks – everything points to that and the cost doesn’t justify the repair. Goodbye dishwasher.

Re: Smeg DI612CA failing to spray

Got the circulation pump out and it seems clean – need to remove the housing to check. The hoses to the circulation pump seem clean too. How is the housing removed from the pump? It twists but unclear how much force I should use.

If crud is not the problem in the circulation pump does that suggest the pump is gone or could something else still be blocking somewhere?

Re: Smeg DI612CA failng to spray

    Thanks for quick response K.

Not yet – it is draining fine without any noise! Any instructions on checking the housing?

Re: Smeg DI612CA failing to spray

Fitted the fill chamber matrix and that hasn’t fixed the problem.

The dish washer goes through this sequence:

    – drains and partly fills for a couple mins
    – drains
    – fills with water
    – sounds like its trying to heat (and on longer runs it does get hot)
    – then gurgles a lot as if trying to send pressure to the arms. No movement from arms.

So looks like its still blocked somewhere. What is the best thing to check/clean next?

    Thanks again for help.

    Chris

Better/safer/easier to just replace the matrix?

OOops. Think I better check this first.

I’m not getting E2 error but guessing it could be not filling fully.
