Re: Getting into the white goods trade

tbh the IT trade is pretty much the same, oversubscribed

Ah well this thread has given me some things to think about but if anyone does want an unpaid teaboy for a couple of days im still up for seeing what the industry is like as a job

BTW – cheers for the schoolboy comment but that was sadly so a few years ago now:D

yea i was half asleep when i was posting that so ment to say i can get my hands dirty

I had thought about offering to work for a 2-3 days for nowt to with an existing appliance repairer to see if it is a job id want to take up before shelling out on training courses

So i guess my next question is anyone in the Leeds/Wakefield area want a teaboy for a couple of days 😀

cracking – cheers for the quick response, yep I use a decent powder and dont let liquid anywhere near apart from that Aerial stain remover once or twice and the door is always open

Sorry for the daft question, i just want to make it last instead of having or sort out smells/mould issues once they have happened

Re: Does my hotpoint use Bosch components

Cheers – just wanted to make sure

And yep i know its not a well built machine, the old mechanical dial Hotpoint FirstEdition machine my parents have that still prodly says made in Great Britain on the front is infinatly better built

but this was 200quid off RRP so i paid what it was worth (Still think its a joke they put super silent on the front of it though)

Cheers, i had a feeling it was a no-go, just trying to save me some time in sorting out plumbing as the water taps were put in a difficult position to get to

Re: Washer, Dryer and dishwasher for £750?

Me and SWMBO did some more research and have pretty much decided on this washer dryer set – http://www.thewashingmachineplace.co.uk … oom{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20Sets – GORENJE WA72145BK WASHER & D72325BK DRYER

from the poking about we did with the machines we found they were pretty well built but are they a good make (Yes she decided that she wanted a black instead of silver set)

Re: Washer, Dryer and dishwasher for £750?

the idea was just to get a cheap set to start me and the lass off as obviously cash is not abundant – that is why i asked what some of the males i looked at were easy to repair

what are gorenje like as a make http://thewashingmachineplace.co.uk/pro … {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}20Gorenje

we dont get the dishwasher in that package but we could alwasy pick one up second hand or get one later

    Looks at price of Miele
    [yorkshire man]’Ow much?!?!?![/yorkshire man]

I have been doing further looking round and i found the following machines – http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/zanussi-zw … 9-pdt.html yes i know its currys but a £90 quid discount on the machines is not bad but are the zanussi’s really better than the Beko washer and dryer (yes i know they are white but if they are that much better then she who must be obeyed will have to accept white and then look at something like the Beko DWD4311W dishwasher, it pushes us over budget a tiny bit but is the zanussi washer and dryer a much better machine then the beko’s

Re: Washer, Dryer and dishwasher for £750?

I had thought about spending more on a washer and dishwasher that match but then get something like one of those compact (or full size) white knight dryers to either shove in the garage (but then my car gets covered in humidity and whatever lint gets through the filter) or see if it could be mounted in a cubpoard head height and just hang the vent hose out of a window as and when it is used

Can you mount a compact dryer in a cubpard like that as long as the cupboard door is left wide open when it is running

I know they are dirt cheap but they look to have been making the same dryer for years so im assuming they are a tried and tested design that most people know how to fix (or it can be fixed by kicking it – I am a yorkshireman afterall)

Re: Hotpoint HVL211 not spinning correctly

not the best news really, its odd that the old Ariston machine coped absolutely fine – they could not have cheapened the components that much in the space of 5 years (thats a stupid question isnt it)

its not even like we are overloading it, i would guess that the machine has less than 3kg of washing in the drum when is struggles to spin – I watched it doing this and the drum was not moving about more than you would expect and from watching it rotate the clothes seemed evenly distributed along the sides of the drum

ah well i guess its something my parents will have to get used to and just keep a bucket nearby the empty half the load or so into so it will spin up

and its the heater coming loose from its bracket that does it

rips the machine to pieces.. horrifying in fact

    really?

is this a common issue then as that is pretty worrying and im glad my parents were in the house when it did it so the power could be cut as the chance for shorting something out sounds pretty high

Re: what could cause this level of distruction

tbh it wasent a bad machine, not the quietist in its last few months (motor noise) but it seemed to wash reasonably well, has cost us 0 in repairs, didnt hang about too much balancing the spin and the wash times werent too bad, my parents replaced it with a hotpoint that as far as i can see uses the same programmer (all the cycles appear exactly the same) but with a bigger drum, better suspension and a quieter motor

i gues merloni machines are a bit like the old Jaguars built under british leyland, good but would be better if they didnt skimp and build the thing right (IE prey you dont get a friday afternoon machine)
