Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

Hello forum, hope you can help…

My fridge (FRSB36AF20/2) is not getting cold enough, but the freezer and everything else like the ice and water are working fine. I get no error messages. Does it sound like something is iced up or a baffle problem maybe? Any ideas?

    12 digit service code is: 8586 158 15041

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I checked the pump and the impeller is free.

Re: miele premier novo washing machine fault.

    Thanks for the reply Penguin.

On further inspection I have discovered that the carbon brushes have worn right down, one has about 5mm remaining and the other has about 8mm remaining. I guess it’s a miracle the motor was working at all! I have checked the commutator for any raised segments and haven’t found any, luckily. For reference, the motor is a MRT 32 -606/2 and I’m pretty sure the part number for the pair of brushes is Miele 4287411. Are they easy to get hold of and what are they likely to cost please? The model of the machine is W842.

Hi guys, I also have this problem in conjunction with a noisy ticking sound coming from the motor. Does it sound like the carbon brushes are at fault here?

Re: Hygena APL 8212 tablet problem

Well, it looks as though your advice did the trick!

Not only were some of the holes blocked in the bottom rotor, a couple in the top rotor were blocked aswell. Not only that, the sprinkler at the very top of the machine was completely gunged up with what looked like undissolved detergent and/or limescale.

Also, the bottom filter was full of debris (including a rusty screw!) and the fine wire mesh filter was covered in limescale which I have completely cleaned off!

Fingers crossed, but I think the problem is solved! Cheers

    🙂

Re: Servis M6500W: very noisy on spin

    I have investigated further!

After having taken the back off the machine and taken the belt off, I turned the flywheel by hand to rotate the drum. If I put my ear close to the drum at the back, I can hear a dreaded slight crunching sound coming from the bearing area – it certainly isn’t a smooth gliding sound that you would expect from an unworn bearing set.

Which brings me on to the next question – can these bearings actually be replaced? It’s a Servis M6500W and it looks like a sealed drum to me.

Guys, does it sound like I’ve got a big white shiny piece of landfill sitting in my utility room? 😥

Oh right, this machine drains to an open pipe which seems all clear.

Re: Servis M6500W: very noisy on spin

    Thanks for the help guys.

I’ve checked for excessive play between the two drums, there is about 1mm of play, that’s all. There is no notchy movement or rumbling.

I’ve inspected the dampers again, there is a quite a lot of grease coming out of one of them, by looking at the grease mark on the shaft there is evidence of about 30mm of travel in that particular damper.

The concrete weights are secure, nothing looks broken, I’m not sure what you mean by ‘sink coupling’.

Thanks for the quick reply Penguin45.

I emptied the filter at the front of the machine, there was a bit of debris in there but not much. Do you agree the friction dampers are the likely cause of the excessive vibration and noise?

I’ve sent an email for prices.

    Cheers

Re: Schreiber APM 6314 integrated fridge problem

Yeah, the label says R134a, and I guess because there is a big build-up of ice in one area at the back of my knackered fridge it would point to some sort of blockage, like you say.

Thanks for the link to a newer model. I wonder how much the CW781 would be… any ideas?

What an excellent forum this is. Thanks for all the advice so far.

Re: Schreiber APM 6314 integrated fridge problem

Hmmm. The fridge has a vent at the bottom but not at the top so there is no chimney effect. The ice is a hard block and not snowy.

Anyone got any idea how much a new compressor should cost for this fridge? Not too much ££££ I hope. 😥

Thanks in advance for your advice.
