ParticipantRe: ZX79/SSI Zanussi fridge not cooling
Thanks for your reply.
I think buying a new one is the answer.
I’m looking at a Whirlpool and Beko – normal old fashioned variety – without frost free 😆
Any advice as to which is likely to be the most trouble free in the future.
Thanks.

ParticipantRe: ZX79/5SI fridge problems
Well, we still have this fridge freezer un-repaired – which I defrost on a weekly basis.
I am now at the point of buying a new one unless someone could tell me how much it will cost to fix it.
Unfortunately the only people I can get to fix it have quoted me a £60 call out plus vat to establish the fault and then £20 – £35 labour plus parts plus vat to fix it.
I don’t mind paying for the repair if i know in advance how much – it could be cheaper to buy a new one.
Has anyone had their Zanussi repaired and if so how much did it cost?
Thanks

MKR are you able to assist with where to find the thermistor in the fridge so we can replace it? Thanks

ParticipantRe: ZX79/5SI fridge problems
Glad to hear you’ve hopefully fixed your problem.
Checking your product number we seem to have the same fridge freezer.
We’ve just a done a defrost again and are on day 1 of being “cold” in the fridge again 😀
Where abouts is the part that needs replacing, how do we get to it? And do you have a part number for it? Sorry I am assuming you have replaced this yourself.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Frost Free Freezer
Sorry it lists several on our manual so I assume they are all of the same variant.
Checking inside the fridge itself it is actually a ZX79/SSI

We have exactly the same problem, we can go about 10 days before the fridge is “warm” again and we have to do a full defrost.
Have you managed to fix the problem?

ParticipantRe: Zanussi F/F – fridge not cooling
Just an update on our fridge freezer which may be helpful to someone someday.
We decided to eat up the food in the freezer and give it a full defrost for a day. Then we switched it back on and 😀 😀 😀 the fridge works again.
Thanks for your help on this forum.

Many thanks for your reply.
We have discovered that the door had come loose and wasn’t fitting correctly, this has now be realigned and the fridge is cold at the bottom, but not evenly throughout.
Unfortunately our local Zanussi centre want to charge £55 + VAT a call out just to establish the problem and then give a quote – which I think is an unreasonable fee.
Having spoken to a couple of engineers on the phone to try and get a quote for a repair, it seems that we are looking at anything from £80 – £150 to repair the fridge depending on the fault.
Many thanks for your advice on this site. We did also try a repair man via your website. Within 1 hour of completing the form a gentleman telephoned – very impressive service thanks and he was very helpful on the telephone.
I think judging the repair costs we may just buy a new fridge as the costs are pretty similar.
