Can’t see an edit function so a second post ..sorry.. Please read the above post first to get the full picture.
Now the house is quiet I’ve just depressed the on off switch on at the left hand side of the door and about a second later I can hear a very faint click coming from below the programme selector buttons on the right hand side of the door. Is this a small contactor pulling in and holding? When the on/off switch is released , about a second after there is the same noise. I’m assuming this is the small contact dropping out as it is de energised. None of the red leds on the programme selector switch illuminate, neither does this action trip the kitchen ring main….I dont know what all this means but I’m hoping someone will
Ps I’ve drained all the water from the reservoir below the filter, will this cause any problems if it totally dries out??
    Thanks agian

electrofix wrote:what i am after is the inner drum. i realised the drum would be inline with the door but what your describing sounds like the inner drum spider has failed. the spider has 3 legs and when one snaps the drum moves when on spin and contacts the outer tub. the only clue is some runout of the inner drum when its truned. what your looking for is a change in the gap as its rotated between the 2 drums. a small amount is ok but if it get beyond 5 mm its getting too big

    Thanks Dave
Nope it doesn’t seem to be moving…..it runs true…….

Drum is in line with the door. Nope, no other noises only when it ramps up to spin. The drum, when turned by hand, turns nice and smoothly too, no grinding or crunching

Re: Bosch 1200 classixx express – WAE24162GB running hot

I have now had the time to stanover the machine whilst it was on a 40c wash and this is what hapened
1 – The washer was filled with clothes and tablets and conditioner put in the appropriate slots in the drawer, it was then started.

2- The machine filled in the right hand drawer with cold water, turned for a bit then filled with more cold water to wash the tablets. It then stood for a few moments whilst the heater was warming the water. I could hear it warming like you can a kettle. It then commenced it’s wash cycle

The water entering the machine was cold cause I felt it, it was not drawing hot water from the doemstic supply

3- The pump then started to empty the washer of hot dirty soapy water. I know it was this cause I looked at and felt it as it excited the machine pipe to go down the drain.

4 – The icon on the fromn then changed to rinse and the machine started to draw cold water(again I checked this with my hands)via the right hand drawer of the tray. It stopped and then stood for a short while making the same sound as before when it was heating the water. When it started to turn the glass on the door was warm. I apprecate this heat could have been left from the wash cycle but I don’t think it was due to the noise the machine was making.

5 – The machine then went through a number of rinse cycles all the water drawn was cold and was then heated up – it was cold to the touch on entering the machine and warm warm to the touch on exciting the machine.

6 – The machine finished doing he wash nd the clothes were warm to the touch.

So in summary; during the wash the machine is not drawing any hot water, is emptying as it should between cycles (Least I believe it is) and is heating the water between every cycle, it must be cause of the noise it makes as well as the water being warm wen pumped out
Your thoughts gents wil be much appreciated
    Thanks

I beleive so as the conditioner disapears when the wash has finished, and apart from the heating problem the clothes smell and feel “washed”

Re: Bosch 1200 classixx express – WAE24162GB running hot

Thank you for your response Dave, but as stated in the original post the machine is connected to a cold water supply. I have proved this by a) Running the washing machine when there was no hot water in the house and still getting hot clothes out and b) running the water out of the mains where the washer connects for a considerable amount of time and getting no hot out of it. Additionally the problem has only surfaced in the last couple of months, being connected to the same source of water in all that time, makes me think that the issue is with the washing machine and not the supply.

    The machine is mended now.
When I managed to get hold of a tamper proof stardrive tool I took the melted connection block off the machine and had a good look at it. One of the live connections on the machine side of the block was quite a slack fit and it seems that this was the cause of the overheating was. I have re-terminated it using 20Amp Connection Strip and then taped it all up to keep any dirt out. The machine is correctly earthed and the capacitor put back into the circuit as it was.
    A couple of thoughts:
Why do they fit tamper proof screws, they are a pain in the backside and when the tool required is easily obtainable what is the point?

The price for the “official” connection block as mentioned by gandh 1 is very very steep imo. It is a connection block, a very nice one it has to be said, but none the less a connection block with a length of 3 core cable on the end. The price of £48 for that is something that a certain Mr R Turpin would have been proud of. Oh and I am not having a pop at you Mr G as you will have only passed on the facts

Well that’s me off from this fantastic resource until the dishwasher packs in again!!
Many thanks for all the help

    Hi Guys

Thanks for the help up to now.
One more thought. Does this £48 connector do anything special or is it “just ” a connection block? Is it possible to do the same job with something else that doesn’t cost the best part of 50 quid.

    Thanks again

    Re: Diplomat ADP 8132

The block is a lump of melted plastic now 🙁 . I will have a proper look at it with a torch and come back tomorrow as it is a bit dark in there at the moment. The macine is run from a fused double pole isolator switch which it’self is part of the kitchen ring back to an rcd on the board, so it is well protected.
