    Re: new machine: bosch ?

Sorry for my spelling mistakes, I was typing too fast.

Just when I was getting somewhere, I looked at other web sites and I see some people selling a different range of Bosch products, including the max that has already been mentioned. What is this range and why aren’t they on the Bosch web site?

I have also found what I assume is last year’s models for sale on some web sites. Are they the 2012 models? The 9kg logixx look very much like the current Exxcel models in that they have led rather than lcd displays.

Does that mean the inside of an exxcel is teh same as last year’s logixx or is it only the outsides that are the same?

I’m now wondering about getting an old-style logixx to save some money. Are there any differences between 2012 and 2013 models except the display ane new stain removal programmes?

    Re: new machine: bosch ?

I am getting very confused! Using the compare function on their web site, it looks as though the 9kg Logixx WAS32760GB would use more water and more electricity than the 8kg Exxcel WAQ28461GB, which makes sense if it has a bigger drum and holds more water and needs to heat that water.

But… I have downloaded the manuals from the Bosch web site and the 9kg model seems to use less water and electricity for every programme except cottons 60C; for that it uses 1.23kWh and 60L water, whereas the Excel uses 1.15kWh and 68L, so it seems to be swings and roudnabouts: one sues more water on ther 60C wash and the other uses mroe electricity.

Perhaps these are only small differences (less than a unit) and nothing to worry about; perhaps I should get the Logixx on the basis that it seems to use elss water and electricity for all the other washes and being a Logixx would be better built than the Exxcel?

Thank you. I thought the logixx would be but I wasn’t sure about the exxcel. I am tempted to got for the exxcel unless someone can convince me of a better reason to upgrade to the logixx?

Thanks for your reply. I guess I’ll look into a replacement. What do you think has caused the fan to fail? This is only about 2 years old.

As long as you do a decent job of recrimping the earth wires then that should be fine.

Thanks. I forgot to say that the brushes were clean and over an inch long, so no problems there. Can you confirm the part no. for the earth cable just in case I need one in the future? Or do you make your own; what gauge wire is it (I suppose I could measure it next time I have the machine in pieces but I thought someone might know off the top of their head). Thanks.

Yes, I thought it strange that a power surge would kill just the motor but nothing else.

I am embarrassed now that I mentioned the electrician as it was a red herring.

I have taken the motor off and one of the cables has separated from its connector. I think it is the cable on the second pin on the motor, which appears to go to the sixth pin on the chopper board connector.

What are each of the seven pins on the motor for? I found another web site suggesting check continuity between the pins but that must have been for a different motor as my results did not match the pin outs given.

So I need to order the new harness to the motor. In the process of removing the motor, I don’t know whetehr I have broken the earth lead. The earth lead ran from the chassis to the motor but I saw another earth lead hanging going nowhere. The other end of the loose lead goes to the heater. I assume the lead should run heater to motor to chassis. I can’t find a photo of the part on the internet but would it be right to assume it is “earth lead assembly C00201355”. Alternatively could I do a DIY repair by recrimping the leads together?

DrDill wrote:Self cleaning condenser uses the water to rinse it self, so if it pumped it away down the drain it wouldnt be able to self rinse/clean! Thats why you cant put the drain kit on a heat pump machine with self clean.

I think there must be a way to do this, after all, the Miele does. It could store water in the tray until it needs to self-clean and at that point it could discharge into the drain.

Frelon wrote:Yes, easy peasy. Cost about £9

Google Bosch WTZ1110 Condenser Drainage Kit

Well that’s a very good price but I have been told they cannot be fitted to the heat pump dryers because these are self-cleaning dryers. Does this mean the tray accumulates wet lint? Perhaps the pump will not cope with that?

Frelon wrote:Yes Stephen, you can buy a (Bosch) kit that pumps the condensate to drain, instead of having to empty the tank on a daily basis.

Thanks. That’s interesting. Any idea of cost? Is it a DIY job?

    Re: recommended tumble dryers?

    Hello,

To add to my earlier post, I have been looking athte Bosch web site; it seems vented dryers are C rated, condensers are B, and heat pump are A, so definitely energy savings to be had but presumably offset by differences in purchase cost.

One thing that is not clear: do the condenser dryers only drain into the drawer or can you plumb them into a drain?

How interesting. There wa a time when manufacturers said that machines used so little water, there was no benefit to having a hot fill. I’ve noticed the Bosch machines also say they can be filled up to 60C. How does this work? Are there separate hot and cold connections? Doesn’t the machine need some cold water?

You are right, I am looking at the Bosch price range but I had never heard of ISE before, so wanted to ask what they were. I always thought Miele were the best and had not heard of ISE. Are they are good as Miele or better?

It has a 10 year guarantee which sounds amazing but the price is 899.99. Ouch! I haven’t heard of ISE before. Are they as good as they say they are?

    Re: dishwasher buying advice

I understand the difficulty here in deciding which to buy, my choice would be this: SMS53A12GB, its in the winning line series, full stainless steel interior and can use as little as 6 litres of water, heres a link/quote]

Hi, I am confused by the number of Bosch models out there. The Bosch web site says Logixx are the best, Exxcel are mid range, and Classixx are the most basic but then there are models, like the one you have mentioned that are neither Logixx nor Classix; where do they fit in?

I have seen this model, or one very similar, in a shop and it had the small, third, drawer at the top for cutlrey. Yet the Bosch web site says only Logixx have the third drawer. I don’t think the Bosch web site is a complete list of all their models. Are Bosch in the middle of releasing new models? Is it that the web site shows 2012-13 models and the shops are selling 2011-12?

This model seems to have the Logixx top drawer but the front of an Exxcel. Is it halfway between the two?

Looking at the Exxcels it seems the Exxcel has a lower energy and water cnsumption than the Logixx, so I may go for the Exxcel. I don’t really need the fancy, hidden buttons of the Logixx.
