i believe the old bearings can be heated up a bit to ease them out, or is it cool them down? do i start from the back bearing first then the inside one ?
well its the first time ive attempted to change the bearings so fingers crossed 🙂

ParticipantRe: creda w120vw

kwatt wrote:I can’t see if the Bosch machines are affected although plenty others are, especially in soft water areas, by a sticky ecoball.
Basically soap scum and other detritus builds up in the sump hose on the lip that the ecoball seals against and holds it there causing a drain error. It is very common.
You might not see much it where you are Martin as I think the water is a bit harder there but we see it a lot and, I do mean a lot.
It is a combination of things really, overdosing, lack of maintenance wash and so on that cause it but the most common thing is concentrated liquid detergents in combination with low temperature washes all the time. It’s basically the same sort of scummy stuff that causes washing machines to go all smelly.
Cure is hotter washes more regularly, maintenance wash or regular use of Affresh to clean it out and prevent the gunge from forming.

what does an eco ball do in a machine?

thanks, will do. ive used the machine tonight and noticed the drum moving slightly from side to side when it does a slow spin before it gets up to the full spin speed, it that a sign the bearings are on their way out too ??

drum removal etc ?to change bearings I think it is at least a drum removal on most machines but possibly up to a complete stripdown depending on the model.
BUT have you considered a suspension problem or loose concrete block first if it is banging rather than rumbling?
Tim
Ive had the lid off any the concrete blocks seem ok. Is there a test you can do to see if the bearings are worn? Is it if there is movement between the inner metal drum and outer plastic drum where the water goes ?
