thanks martin. that makes sense. i was going to stick a new one on it anyway. though i can`t that being the end of my problems. you might think i`m a bit wierd but i actually enjoy this sort of stuff(but don`t tell anyone) 🙂 i`m certainly no washer repair man but i know a hell of a lot more than i knew when i started this . so the questions will probably keep coming for a while yet.that is unless the guys that run the forum get pi* erm fed up with me and throw me off the forum 😆

hi, its me again, i just can`t let this go!
no, the washer side of things works great its just the dryer i`m having trouble with.
the new fan motor arrived this afternoon so i put it on and put some damp towels and jeans and what have in and started it on a drying cycle for 45 minutes. the fan motor spun continuously and there was plenty of heat coming through.
it went through the cycle with no probs. the washing was nearly dry so i thought i`d put it back in for a bit longer but when i started a new cycle the fan motor wouldn`t spin , i just a clicking every few seconds which i traced to the black analogue pressure swich . i know it was that cos i put my finger on it and you can feel it clicking.i took pressure switch off and opened it up but the small pcb in it looks fine
no traces of anything burning out . i have already cleaned the condenser(squashed bottle thing) and put a new air chamber in it cos i broke the last one. there is three thermostat type efforts on the heater housing .the manual reset toc with red button is ok ,not open circuit . the next to it is the same but the one at the end has quite restistence , about 50 kohms.
can anyone give me any ideas whats causing this .
    😕

is it normal for the metal casing to get fairly hot after its been running for a while . if someone out there has a new one is there any chance they could give it a quick check with a multimeter and tell me what the resistance is across the two spade connectors? then maybe i can get a decent nights sleep and stop thinking about the bloody thing 🙂

    hi martin
i put a bit of bearing grease in them but to tell you the truth they seemed fine before i did. they spin really smoothly without any play. i did find some crap stuck to the stator(not sure if thats what you call it in an induction motor) so i cleaned it up with some servisol. its been running constsantly now for about 1 and a half hours with no problems. i wish i could find out what the restistance should be across the terminals.also it doesen`t appear to have any kind of thermal cut out as someone suggested.

Re: zanussi zwd147s tub seal seems an odd one

    hi mike
connected it up to 240v supply and guess what-the motor works!
so i don`t need a new one . i put a bit of load on it and still no probs . the metal casing gets a bit hot but i supposed thats what the fan blades underneath are for.
if it still runs intermittently when i put it back on the machine it must be something else causing the problem. i`ve checked the wiring and cleand all connections. i hope its not a fault on the board :eeek:
