he sent it out but it never arrived, the royal mail doing their usual bungling. odom has refunded the money, just waiting for it to show on the statement.

thanks martin.
i`ll try some oil on it but it seems to spin easily. there again you never know! or at least i don`t anyway 🙂
i wish i could get hold of a second hand motor . don`t suppose youv`e got one knocking about somewhere have you?stryder
ParticipantRe: zanussi zwd147s tub seal seems an odd one
is this motor driven directly by 240 v or is it stepped down?
just wondered so i can test it.
another weird thing is when you take the washer top cover off, directly above where the dryer blower fan is there is a round patch of black dust. i think this is what led me to think it was a comutator type motor and the dust was from the carbon brushes. but as this is an induction motor where would this black dust come from? 😕stryder

hi quickwash.
i dont suppose anyone out there would happen to have a spare second hand blower motor that would fit this machine by any chance that i could buy from them if at all possible by any chance? 🙂

hi all
thought i would give it a rest for a while as i was becoming obsessed with it 🙂
anyway heres the latest- washer working fine , ie draining, filling , spinning and what have you. i put the new element in and that seems to heat up fine but the washing still doesn`t come out very dry. i took the top off the machine and ran a drying cycle and i noticed the heater blower fan is only coming on now and then, its off more than its on so although the dryer element is getting nice and hot the fan isn `t blowing enough hot air into the drum because it keeps stopping for a nap. anyone got any ideas what the problem is? just out of interest, doest the fan motor have replaceable brushes ?stryder

hi martin
thats a yes to all three so i decided to order a new element.
i`ll let you know if it works.
by the way quickwash, how did you go on with your peggies at the dentist. i`d rather start this repair all over again than go to the dentist 🙂 -
