answering my own post now – it was the MCU proven by a quick and quite easy to get at swap between washers – one on order but not in stock so will be a while – oh and damn expensive!

not really replying to my own post but having watched it through a couple more times on test – everything seems fine up to CO7 when it makes a feeble attempt at anticlockwise rotation then stops after less then 90 degrees- no ramping of spin speed and no full speed spin in CO8 all of which is meant to be anticlockwise I think so does this really narrow it down to the MCU?

Hi back again
Still having ongoing problems with one of my whirlpool AWM9000 washers – for literally years now it intermittently does not spin – turn it off or re-run a different cycle and it will start working fine for up to 3 months at a time. Test cycle ran fine so no help until now when the washer is refusing to spin at all, nothing that has worked before has helped and in test mode it fails at C6 in that the drum does nothing and similarly in C7 and C8 no drum movement at all – the odd thing is that the test program does not stop nor the buzzer beep etc and no fault code shows – it merely proceeds onwards as if ignoring the lack of a spin/motor activity so really I am no wiser other than to suspect the MCB . Of course as this is hardly available at a give away price I am dubious about replacing it – I am about to open the machine up and check all the connections between the MCU, control board and user board especially those between MCU and CB but if this does nothing am I looking at a dodgy motor or MCB? – I am I suppose in the lucky position of having an identical machine to swap parts between as a test but as they are stacked with dryers and in twice daily use I would rather not swap parts randomly.Any help appreciated
Best Regards

Well to answer my own query it was the flow meter – easy fix but expensive for what it is!

Looks like you are right – it is still pumping cos spray arms are spinning but was vibrating like a looney under there when I took the lower panel off to have a look – I am just looking at the replacements which I note are different and meant to last a bit longer – just seem a bit expensive when the whole dishwashers can be picked up so cheaply on offer

Well despite the great logic I was wrong – it was just a fractured post on the switch mounting on the control panel PCB – was pretty impossible to solder up as they are minute so I swapped it for one of the other switches which never get used and it is fine now – thanks for the good safety advice but this was, in the end, fiddly and didn’t involve delving into the higher voltage stuff and unusually the control panel came off very easily

Well new water level switch is in, despite the old one seeming to function OK off the machine, so far has been fine for 2 days so hopefully thats it cured
Thanks for the help

I assume the last few posts mean that the 12 digit code was right and identified it as the right model -11 flashes mean FA I assume mean it shouldn’t happen but I noticed the same on another similar topic on the same machine when Optical Sensor was mentioned as bringing up this code which the machine doesnt have so it is daft anyway.
I have pulled out the sensor and can convince myself that it is a bit notchy but seems to work off the machine otherwise – all the contacts are like new on the switch and the board so I am just going to replace the sensor and hope.
If this dont work I will swap the circuit boards between machines as a last resort. Thanks again

damn 🙁 I will look again with specs on or try the 12 off the other machine bought at the same time and same model if that’s OK with you greg? will post it later as not in the same building as the machines at the moment
Again thanks for your time and help

Not pulled sensor out yet – was wondering why Greg wanted more details re model numbers etc though?
Will pull it apart more this weekend and check switch function off the machine ( and having 2 machines can always swap circuit boards ) what is odd is the fact that both have been so flakey since new so I did wonder about a batch of poor sensors and maybe just change it anyway as it seems cheap and readily available. Thanks

Thanks for the reply Greg 😀
Model is 8511 501 15820
12 digit code is 380 548 006214Basically it is now pretty well stuck flashing 11 – if I throw a bucked of water down its throat and reset, it pumps out then doesn’t fill and flashes the code 11 again virtually every time ( ie I assume it still thinks it has not emptied ) .
To be honest the two identical dishwashers, which I find are just 2 years old actually, have never had anything convincingly causing them to flash 4 in the past and I just wonder is there really a faulty part on them both ❓regards
