Re: Bosch no model number dishwasher

Good grief sp, you’re right… why didn’t I see that when I was there right in front of the machine ? I’ll go and visit again to see what the model number is.

Er yes… I noticed the cleanliness too. Nowt to do with me, I’m acting as a sort of landlord’s agent here. The tenant has reported the faulty machine and being of some experience in these matters I thought I’d have a go at seeing if I can sort it out… with a little bit of help from friends here at WGF 🙂

Sorry to bump this post, but would it be ok to clean the door in a bath of caustic soda before using the adhesive ?

    Thanks

    Thanks Penguin

I’ve placed an order just now. When will it be despatched do you think ?

Also, I was thinking of putting the door into a bath of Caustic Soda to clean it up and degrease it. Is this ok ?

Re: Zanussi Aquacycle 1200 – we have no hot water supply

    Ahh.. there’s the rub..

We don’t have any hot water supply at all due to a broken pressure vessel in our boiler.

The instructions do indicate though that if you select the right programme then the machine will only draw water from the cold inlet. This is what we’ve done for now.

    Thanks for the reply

Thank goodness for that. Good job I completely re-assembled the machine. Anyway, the good news is that it has run very well and since last night, its done 3 cycles including the first boil cycle.

My confidence boosted, I’ve now realised that the tumble dryer which has for years been very noisy, is also suffering from worn bearings. So, thats my next assignment, though I won’t bore this forum with a bolt by bolt account..

For interest, the tumble dryer is a Zanussi TD200 – Its an old machine, but its still running fine, even though its noisy..

I’ve gone and committed a cardinal sin !

I’ve completely reassembled the carcase before running a test wash, which means if it doesn’t go according to plan I’ve got to disassemble it all again.

    Now for the test wash.

Have just had a dinner break and all seems to be pretty plain sailing, just reconnecting the rubber pipes into the right places etc..

Now going to reconnect the motor and electrics before putting the carcase back together.

I’m thinking that I should do an empty boil wash first time around just to make sure all is well ?

Drum unit is in now, and surprisingly straightforward it was too.

It was nice to shove those hard to get out cotter pins back in as well where they belong !

Door seal is also in place, but wondering how to make sure the plastic retainer is as tight as it can be. My adjustable spanner won’t reach both bits to pull them together.

    Re: Zanussi FLA 1201W – I’ve started….

I’m back onto it now and I have to confess to cheating slightly.

I took the drum enclosure down to the shop where they kindly knocked the bearings and seals back in for me. I guess I was just too nervous about damaging them and rendering all my efforts useless.

The 2837375no. bolts are in place now that hold the front and back together. (Its more like 18-20 bolts actually, but it felt like more)

I’m now at the stage of putting the drum back into the carcase.

    Re: Zanussi FLA 1201W – I’ve started….

Well, its only a short piece tonight, because I was in London all day today and only had a little bit of time to work on the washing machine. I made it my target to remove the bearings and then call it a day again.

The rubber seal was the toughest cookie of the three…. Eventually with a small claw hammer I was able to pull it out. I pretty well destroyed it in the process (not the housing though), so it won’t be sealing anymore !

The two bearings I hammered out and was careful to tap only the bearings themselves. They’re now both out and I’ve done an initial clean of the housings. The small housing (the one that was actually undamaged I think) is as smooth as a baby’s bum. The larger one looks quite good as well, but there are small signs of marking on one side which may be pitting, I don’t know. But, overall I would say it looks in good condition.

The shaft ? Hmm, I’ve not looked at that in detail yet. I’m thinking of taking both parts down to the parts shop for a second opinion before I start re-assembling the machine tomorrow night.

I’ll let you know how I get on tomorrow….

    G’night

    Re: Zanussi FLA 1201W – I’ve started….

I did persevere some more and managed to get the hex bolt out with some persuading, then the spider needed persuading with a hammer down the middle of the shaft.

I can see now the cause of all the trouble was a leaking seal which allowed water to get into the bearings and cause them to get rusty. The seal and two sets of bearings are still inside and I’ve left them overnight with some WD40 spray. Hopefully, getting these out tomorrow will be relatively easy.

    Now it is g’night…. zz

    Re: Zanussi FLA 1201W – I’ve started….

I’ve hit that wall of ‘time to go to bed’ now so I’m going to pack up and tidy things away. I hope to resume operations tomorrow night.

But, I’ve hit another wall in the form of an hex bolt holding the spider which is steadfastly refusing to move. Is this because…

A – Its stuck fast and needs WD40

B – I need to turn it counter clockwise

C – I’m just too tired and weak to do anymore tonight ?

    G’night
