Re: Need to replace a Zanussi WD1012 selector knob

I have changed one of these on a similar model from the same series and it did need some persistence to remove it. I narrowly avoided snapping the plastic clip though. Remember to press and hold the knob in before turning anti-clockwise while pushing the clip in at the same time, otherwise it’ll just free wheel. Also make sure the timer mounting screw is back in place. Brute force will remove the cover but will snap the clip requiring the replacement of both parts.

Once the cover is out you can remove the nut holding the clip assembly in place. Behind this is a spring. Then when the clip assembly is removed you’ll see that the outer barrel (the bit with the graphics and letters on) is held in place by two plastic clips. You should be able to squeeze these slightly using long nosed pliers and enough to free the barrel.

The barrel has a key fitting so it’ll only fit back on in the correct place, so you don’t need to worry about the programmes lining up correctly.

Oh dear, that’s a shame. They’ve always come up with the goods for me. 🙁

I will go on looking as well.

I’ve ordered parts from them before, even obsolete ones, and they’ve never let me down.

The part number for your motor is 8996454308025. Hopefully it will help in your search. They are still available new but quite expensive.

Ok thanks. I’d previously tried to take the front cap off, but it felt like I was using too much force and didn’t want to snap the plastic clips inside. I’ll have another go.

I can convert the old 6 digit Zanussi part numbers into 11 digit Electrolux part numbers. Sometimes they are still available. For example the Dryer heater element part no. 099495 becomes 50099495009 and is still available.

Parts diagram for the WD1015M here by the way: http://procornerpdf.electrolux.com/stat … 10/099.PDF

I won’t post the link to the technical info because I don’t want to break forum rules!

That one is a 1980s integrated washer dryer made before the current PNC numbers came in. Its code is C80678 and the product number is UK0001907. Enter it into the Zanussi shop or Procorner and you’ll find the parts diagrams. I have the technical stats sheet somewhere in my collection too.

    Re: Zanussi ZFL1023 timer problem

Just a quick note to say that I’ve changed the timer. It took me quite a long time, but I wanted to be careful to swap the wires over correctly. One mistake could have been fatal.

The machine is now heating up properly and running as it should. An unusual feature of these machines is the intermittent 450rpm spins during the main cotton wash. I understand this was dropped for the next series of Jetsystem machines.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Thanks very much for the advice, Martin. You’ve been very helpful.

Luckily I have another (26 year old) Zanussi doing the work while this one is out of action.

    Thanks for the replies.

I do have a replacement timer available from Germany. My German is quite rusty but it is the same timer with a C315/6 mark.

What is the recommended process for changing one of these over? I’ve taken the timer knob off and can see two screws behind the soap dispenser cam.

Could the coil on Crouzet timers be changed over independently?
