ParticipantRe: Samsungs any good now (eg RL41ECPS/RL44ECPS)
Thats weird – I can’t see the RL41ECPS for sale anywhere – yet there’s loads of the RL44ECPS.
Is the RL41ECPS very new?
Thanks,

ParticipantRe: Leibherr Defrost Cycle
We did (along with who we bought it from) but we’ve kinda been in the loop for a few months – we’ve got to a point where we feel that either it works or they can have it back.
The build quality seems good, but it needs to work!
We’ve not been able to use the freezer for several months now and each time an engineer comes we lose the fridge contents too.

ParticipantRe: Leibherr Defrost Cycle
Sorry, its a Leibherr CNesf 3033 – haven’t got the service number handy.
I got the best digital thermometers max-min probe thermometers I could find, and I do understand that they measure air temperature, rather than average temp. I have tested the thermometers and they appear to be accurate.
These temperatures are recorded when the doors have not been opened for hours/days.
What would be the expected defrost temperature of such a freezer during defrost?
Is there more than one thermister to replace (generally)?
What confused me (if it were the PCB) is that things appear to be getting gradually worse. I guess I’d expect the fault to be consistent if it were something like the pcb?

ParticipantRe: fridge/freezer help
Just to add to this thread – we are having similar problems with our Leibherr CNesf 3033 – Freezer thawing food on defrost cycle.
Still in the nevery ending loop of engineers chopping out bits every few weeks and us losing all our food in the fridge (can’t use the freezer).

ParticipantRe: How to measure fridge temperature
Thanks. The thermometer in water method is already showing some interesting results. At the moment (and I’ve got to leave it a few more hours) its showing exactly the same temperature as on the door display (which is what I wanted).
What puzzles me is why the manufacturers (Leibherr – or in this case the UK company that operates on their behalf) immediately suggested the appliance may be faulty, instead of suggesting the water/lard(!) method?
Is there a technical name for the type of sensor in these fridges that measures the ‘core’ temperature rather than the air temperature?

ParticipantRe: How to measure fridge temperature
So am I right in assuming that generally these built in thermometers are basically in some sort of fluid themselves, or perhaps their sampling frequency is quite spread out?
It doesn’t change unless you keep the door open for about 15 minutes, and then only by one/two degrees.
and PS does it matter if the glass is not ‘glass’ ? (I put a plastic one in there an hour ago and I’m going to buy a thermometer to drop in it).

ParticipantRe: How to measure fridge temperature
The engineer said that out digital thermometer should be about as sensitive as the built in one, and so the appliance must be faulty.
But I’ve read that you may have to put a thermometer in a glass to test the core temperature as opposed to the air temperature.
Can anyone help?

ParticipantRe: The most reliable fridge freezer brand/model?
Thanks. We have heard of these, but they don’t seem to be stocked in many of the high street shops.
Have you any advice on where to shop for the Liebherr?
Be ideal if we could actually ‘see’ one beofre purchasing, but I guess seeing a Miele is just the same. -
