Thanks – I’ll check the heater when I go back tomorrow.

It looked like the correct forum. I’m not asking how to fix it, or what is causing it, I have just stated a fact that this is happening and asked if anyone else has come across it.

I didn’t push her for the amount of water – a drip out of the door seal is a flood to some people. I think it was a dedicates wash.

    Thanks.
After looking at the diagram on Connect I thought it was on hinges, but I thought I’d better check with someone who’d worked on one before. Thanks for the tip too – getting my giant hands into tight spaces is always fun…

    Re: Advice required

    It is a CA230.

The suspension struts I removed from the machine were completely shot – one fell apart when I removed it. The customer insisted on replacing the springs, I told him they looked OK, but were a bit rusty.
The noise seems to be the tub moving back and forward, rather than the initial bottoming out. The lump of polystyrene may have originally been in the back of the machine to stop this.

I have no problem giving a refund for the parts – I have done it before and will do again. It’s just annoying in this case as I didn’t want to repair it in the first place. I do my best to stop people throwing money away and they usually thank me in the end. I know people get attached to old machines (I have a bearing job on a 1994 Zanussi next week), but in this case the machine was scrap in the first place.
