ParticipantRe: Cat washed to death in machine!
I went to a job in St Helens once were I had to get a dead cat out of a machine on Hoovercare, the woman was really upset the cat had climbed in for a kip the lady never noticed and put the machine on and went to bed.
It was as stiff as a board when I got there I had to snap a few paws to get the thing out.
I went back some months later to do the annual service the lady had calmed down, she then told me that that she had rung her mate to tell her that that she had killed the familly pet and that it was dead in the machine as was as stiff as a board.
Her mate replied “Why Didn’t You Use Conditioner”
Thats what mates are for!!!!
TRUE STORY. 😆 😆 😆

ParticipantRe: Detergent Training Ceases
This is truly sad news I have made a lot of friends through UKW two friends in particular are George Downs and Rob Dray. I have enjoyed their enthusiastic approach to the problems that our industry is facing and now is the time to stand up and say myself and CREATE wish you all the best for the future.
“As they say it is not over until the fat lady sings” whilst I would not dare to call either of these guys fat ladies (Actually) – (no only kidding) I do not believe we have heard the last of probably the best trainers I have had the pleasure to meet in the last ten years.
Ironically both of these gentlemen were and indeed still are ideally placed to deliver the NVQ qualification that is likely to become the standard for our industry, yes both of these trainers have an assessor’s qualification in the required area.
George and Rob if myself, CREATE and UKW can get this qualification of the ground nationally as we have in Merseyside “And We Will” I promise you guys you are welcome to go on our books as trainers to deliver this national qualification and indeed at the risk of making you feel good as you are about to loose your jobs, you would be a major asset to our company or indeed any one else’s.
I sadly at the moment am not in the position to offer either of these gentlemen full time employment, however if you are an employer, manufacturer or training provider my advise is “You had better get them before I do”.
George Rob good luck for the future if you ever need a reference from a well connected national charity just ask.
Best regards,
Andy Reade

ParticipantRe: Hoover TV30 Tumble Drier Thermal cutout
The cut out is not available as a spare part from GIAS/Hoover their engineers fit complete heaters as part of the five year parts warranty.
There are safety issues here Hoover replace the heater complete for a reason trust me they would fit a full heater if they could get away with a T.O.C.

No cowboy or incompetent is going to be able to get 1000 signatures and all you have to do is send this documentation to us along with a registration fee of £100 to cover our expenses as the wife will have a lot of envelopes to open and those gold stars don`t come cheap 😆 .
CheersBryan
Bryan I don’t think you should be promoting a scheme in this forum that you wife is likely to profit from it sounds a bit like a sales pitch to me. IMO. 😉
Well done 10/10

My father has just had his 80th birthday and has in the last week taken his first flying lesson (Birthday Present). In my book there is no such thing as an old git (your words) definitely not mine.
MalthevikingI agree well said, anyone that has retained a customer base for 22 years deserves respect. Should it not be the case that this customer base is defended against the minority with no insurance, no calibrated meters, no overheads and no cares in the world?

ParticipantRe: NVQ for the Domestic Appliance industry.
It is good to see this thread finally getting more positive.
Because that is the point of the NVQ the candidate must firstly want the qualification and secondly be determined to succeed.
The purpose of the assessor is simply that to “assess” whilst we can help and support the candidate and steer them in the right direction 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the work must be done by the candidate with guidance from the assessor.
We at CREATE are only just starting to map out this process for you the true professionals of this industry. We fully understand the pressures and time restraints placed on you as small businesses and sole traders.
Our intention is to map this out so as you have the absolute minimum downtime with the majority of your assessments actually being done on the job whilst you are earning your daily crust.

I bet the manufacturers get their engineers qualified, because of course they are the only “Professionals” in the trade making us by default the cowboys. What actually makes them the “Professionals” to be honest only the fact that they are big and have one united voice?
The negative comments being posted on this subject only fuel the argument that you are “small and isolated”. The manufacturers will be laughing at you and these negative comments; I know because I worked for one for eleven years.
Again “Reality” check Blogs Domestics (no association intended) has the attitude that the world owes them a living and then gets quite stroppy when things do not right, and the local taxi driver has just unblocked a drain pump for a £10 (Beer Money for Friday night).
Mr Manufacturer on the other hand actually gets of his Ar*e and meets his local Quango and guess what “Actually” gets results.
My birth certificate does not say that “The government” will fund your education and qualifications for life my boy because you are a good egg and “well” you deserve it.
I suggest unless your birth certificate actually does have that statement attached. You should start fighting your own corner “NOW”.
Or how is this for a novel idea why don’t you support the guys from UK Whitegoods who actually are taking on the manufacturers, work providers, insurance companies and the government on your behalf.
My role at CREATE is simple and will not change whatever the outcome of this discussion or qualification. Quite simply we support long term unemployed adults ironically a lot of them thinking the world and the government “OWE” them a living.
Gentlemen if you carry on sticking your head in the sand I will be pleased to introduce myself to you on your induction week at CREATE. However I would much rather prefer to support you in gaining an industry and more importantly a government recognised qualification.
If you pull together and more importantly work together and support each other you collectively have a much larger voice than any of the manufactures.

Believe it or not that is 93,132.39 per job in Italian “Funny Money” sounds like a lot. Bet it wouldn’t buy you an ice cream in St Marks square on a rainy January day.
On a more serious note if you are offered a contract make sure before you sign it that there is no “hidden” paperwork underneath you might find yourself owning a Italian timeshare !!! 😆 😆 😆
