I took the back off, and was able to feed some more of the cable through. 🙂

And a little extra cable, so I can crimp them together and make it a bit longer.

Where can I find heat-resistant terminal clips – and a crimper?

Photo of clip – I’ve taped it in place so it doesn’t fall into the back of the oven.

Or is there some way of extending the cable with a cable joint and new clip?

It seems to have badly corroded. I squeeze it together with pliers, but will not stay tight enough to remain securely connected. I don’t trut using it as it will most likely come loose and short out with the nearby pin. Can I buy new spade connector clips somewhere?

I’ve encountered a slight problem – one of the clips that attaches to the element itself seems to have broken , and it won’t stay firmly on the element clip. Any suggestions? The wire itself seems to be slightly shorter than the other cable, and I’m worried it might drop back through the hole.

Update – screw tightened, fan now working again. But element is indeed not heating.

Right, after another look it seems the top screw behind the fan has worked its way loose, and it’s stopping the free movement of the fan.

But even if I re-tighten the top screw to enable the fan to spin, it seems the element may have died after fitting a new one just a few years ago?

The fan appears to be rubbing against something behind it and doesn’t move too easily. What could have caused this to happen? So could the element and the fan be kaput? Might be time for a new oven I guess.

I have had to order a Torx driver as I can’t find the set I had. It does appear that the fan is stuck, I tried turning it through the grill, but it doesn’t seem to move freely. Would this cause the oven not to heat up?

That was my initial thought. Is it held in place by torx screws or similar? I’ll have a look tomorrow.

When I switch the main (lower) oven on, I can hear a humming sound comming from inside, but as I said the fan and main oven itself appear to be dead.

The clock is fine, I fiddled about with it and the timer isn’t set. There’s no fan or heat. The top oven/grill works fine.

Four years later – Bottom main oven has just stopped working again. No fan and no heat. Same thing, or perhaps something else?
