It’s an old machine.
Anything in particular to look at/for on this model?
Oh. Now working normally. Maybe an imbalanced clothes cutout causing it not to spin itself to bits?

Thanks. Is replacing the bearing awkward? What supports the drum whilst the old bearing is out?

ParticipantSo it is! Thanks (both) 🙂

ParticipantRe: SGS43C12GB/08 salt sensor
The light remains off even with no salt. Anyone know how to switch the feature ON again (button combinations)? That would seem a very simple place to start, in case it’s been switched off 🙂
It could be any state at the moment as I just moved in, and cleared the drain pump of of bits of china (I think). All works well, and seems pretty clean. Would be nice to get it all working though…

Thanks for suggestions. Turned out I was lucky and found a penny in the pump/trap.

Would this explain the failure to run a full spin speed? At that time I don’t hear rubbing/clattering

Is it normal for the motor to be a bit noisier while new brushes bed in? The ‘wistle’ from the bushes on the comutator (or maybe this is the speed controller I’m hearing) is somewhet louder than it used to be, and there’s a *little* bit of what I can oly describe as a harshness/grating at lower motor speeds (nothing appears to be rubbing, and I was careful to make sure the brushes went in the right way). They are patern brushes (not Bosch originals).

Having got the motor off have a good close look at the tags on the brushes, they are what secure them in their holders…it’s a bit of a knack to get them in and outOk, motor’s out and I see the 4 tags holding the ‘cover’ (and connection) over the brush spring underneath. The tags seem to be bent metal rather than sprung so should I be careful not to break them as I bend them out the way and back after replacing the brush, or am I looking for a technique for removing the cover without having to bend the tags?
Looking for a steer here rather than detailed ‘how to’ as I didn’t know about the forum rule, but want to respect it.
