Thanks. I ordered a replacement (and I did remember to order from this site this time) anyway.

OK thanks I will go for the real thing. But a closer inspection reveals it is a EF9000W/2, for which the correct part is 79X9590. Not cheap!

Universal ones seem to have a much shorter spindle.

Thanks for that. I also found one for £26 at eSpares that claims to be compatible but I realise that “compatible” may mean drilling holes, etc.

Thanks – I did discover that it would run anyway, and then it occurred to me that, as you say, any new error would overwrite it!

Can’t imagine why it’s failed… looks to be in mint condition to me.

Re: JLWM1203 doersn’t heat the water – no error code

Many thanks – judging by the age of the machine I think it’s pretty clear the element has failed, I’ll order a new one before I start taking the machine apart (first step is taking the door off the utility room, then removing the tumble dryer, it will be a long job).

Re: JLWM1203 doersn’t heat the water – no error code

Apologies – there is an error code, and it is E69. So that’s a new heating element I need…

However, I’m having trouble figuring out which one I need. There are three model numbers for the JLWM1203 (mine is 91452251400), that’s the first complication. Second complication, I’ve seen elements at prices from £15 to £65 (some don’t include the thermistor, they expect you to recover it from the old element).

On this site, I can’t find an element specifically listed for the 1203.

Many thanks for that – should I check the carbon brushes while I’ve got the back off anyway? (They’re not easy to get to on this model, apparently, so I’m not keen on doing it if I don’t need to.)

    Re: Leak and power trip

I also found evidence of other leaks from various joints so replaced the appropriate washers, O rings and hoses, and reassembled. So far, so good.

    Re: Leak and power trip

Many thanks. I’ve run it while sitting up on blocks so I could see the leak, and there’s one from the drain hose. Hopefully that’s the only one, because it’s somewhat cheaper than a pump. I shall replace it and try again.

    Re: Leak and power trip

Many thanks. It looks like the shaft seal. That’s where the most gunge is. Is that a replaceable item or does it mean a whole new pump? The pump is about £150…
