LG (Lucky Goldstar) have been busy this past while with new products being launched in the Australian market and also in the Middle East.
Of interest to us on UK Whitegoods are the new refrigerators and new microwaves.
Current.com.au got wind of the new LG Side-by-Side Flat Door Refrigerator GC-L197NFS (RRP $2,999) which is reported as being the first fridge of its kind with a completely titanium-steel face and hidden hinges, offering a 567-litre capacity and advanced cooling. Other key features include an in-door ice maker, finger-friendly and protected finish, multi-airflow system, humidity control, one touch LCD display, 3.5 energy star rating, LG Ion Door Cooling and LG Bioshield technology.
Basically all the bells and whistles but at this price it’s up against some stiff competition for the real US fridge freezers and, let’s face it, LG aren’t exactly a shining beacon of reliability.

Next up AME have reported that LG are introducing new microwaves in to the Middle Eastern market. Although this new style is supposed to have been available in Europe for some time now.
‘Traditionally, home appliance companies have put far less effort into microwave oven designs compared to other product categories such as refrigerators,’ said Mr. Simon Lee, General Manager of LG Electronics in Saudi Arabia. ‘However, an increasing number of customers are becoming more style-sensitive in choosing their home appliances, and do not want to have an ugly or bulky microwave oven that does not blend with other home appliances. This stylish New WAVEDOM will be a perfect fit for customers who value style in their daily lives, as well as in their homes.’
The New microwave oven was designed to match any kitchen interior. Customers can choose black, white, silver or stainless steel surface panels to help LG‘s New WAVEDOM better integrate with home or kitchen d©cor.
A more space-efficient design is another virtue of the New WAVEDOM. A round interior provides approximately 30 percent more usable cooking space over conventional microwave ovens and their rectangular cooking areas. By eliminating corners, LG also eliminated difficult-to-reach areas for food to splatter inside the microwave as well, making cleaning easier. This not only saves time, but also creates a more sanitary cooking space.
A convenient dial controller and tilted buttons enable first-time users to easily operate the New WAVEDOM right out of the box. The oven also comes with an animated manual on its widescreen display, and even features special button indicators for the visually impaired.
LG‘s New WAVEDOM won the Good Design Award for design excellence in 2007. It has been available in the European and CIS markets since January 2007.
