Hi all,
I had the same problem, and ordered the required part. I fitted it, closed up the access hatch, slid the oven back into the kitchen unit, switched on, and “Great!” I thought as the cooling fan came on. I switched the oven off, then 10 minutes later tried again. The cooling fan does not come on now! I’m back to square one it seems.
It’s very frustrating as I obviously had it fixed. I have checked all spade connectors and they’re all fine, the fan motor looks fine also from what I can see.
Looks like a new oven for me?????

Probably so? But do consider that by calling in a local expert with the right tools and knowledge, it may just be a worthwhile phonecall? (see link below for a local approved engineer) 🙂

I would if it was an expensive oven, but it cost £150 so I’m not sure calling someone out will be cost-effective. I’ll have a poke around again tonight (with power off of course) and see if I can make it work again.

I’ve been looking at this thread since my oven – an AEG Competence started to cut out a few days ago. Like others it’s inconsistent – sometimes 20 minutes and sometimes longer, but it usually comes back on again after a while. Clock still works etc. My wife thinks it’s to do with opening the door but I’m not so sure.
Seems to me it could be the cooling fan thermostat/control which has been mentioned previously. I see no reason why I shouldn’t be able to replace it myself as long as I can get the correct part which I’ll order from you online.
The numbers on the cooker are as follows:
B2100-4-W
PNC 944 185 043
Typ 91 AHA 01 GA
S No 41096330If you agree that my problem is similar to the others and that it’s likely to be the cooling fan thing, any help to order the correct part would be appreciated.
Thanks 🙂

Well, it’s fitted to your applaince and it’s been an endemic failure over the years. It’s an impossible beastie to test – if it looks discoloured in any way is about as near as you can get.

I have a AEG Competence B1180-1-M oven. The PNC code is: 944 181 727. Can you confirm that the part number required will be 8996619267611 as advised to the others (albeit different models).
I have the same problem heats up and after 20 or so minutes the oven cuts out fan goes off and light goes out, but clock remains on. after about 10 minutes if the door is left open the oven springs back into life Also are there any engineers in south devon?December 16, 2007 at 3:17 pm #131643Penguin45

8996619267611 is correct for that pnc number.
Put your postcode into the repairs@ link below to find a UKW repairer in your area.

I noticed on the original sensor one of the white wires had silver writing on it
I have done the same as you
replaced the sensor then half hour later it cu out again. i have now swapped the white wires around to see if this makes a difference. I am sure before my cooling fan was not working but it is now.

Picture the scene – xmas day the turkey was in, the kids had opened their presents when to my dismay I noticed the oven had gone off – i was very nervous at this point as we had 6 guests coming for xmas dinner – got it back on again for about twenty minutes when click – off it goes again – at this point i’m hot legging it off to the car with semi a hot turkey (cat in chase!!) to my in laws to cook the bird in their oven…
Anway everything turned out ok in the end and now it’s boxing day – i’ve sobered up and found this thread which seems to be full of the same issues as i’ve got with my Aeg competence – pn 944-181-727 (b1180-1-m) it goes off after about twenty minutes using either the grill or the oven it just cuts out (fan stops / internal light goes out) – please can you recommend the part I need to order to fix this problem (thermal cut out sensor ?) – i’m an electronic engineer so replacing a sensor assembly doesn’t worry me as long as access is relatively simple…

ok – took off the top access cover off switched on , can confirm the top cooling fan isn’t running – the sensor with a blue rubber cover just in front of the fan ( connected to the fan coil assembly) has brown scorch marks on it….
