Got an EEE safe email today from what looks like DASA…deja vu methinks.
Anyone else had one; anyone think it’s a good idea?

    Re: EEE safe email.

    I thought that was dead.

As far as I am aware there has been little support for EEE Safe from WRAP/DEFRA etc, I wasn’t aware of support from DASA but knew the WTA was kinda lacklustre at best.

What other support there is for the premise, I have no idea.

Robert Alexander as admin? They’ve got a stand at the DASA show in November – so it seems to have been removed from the bin and is back on the table…..

No surprises with the stand – Graham Dixon is a committee member and is associated with Robert Alexander. WRAP/DEFRA have no interest in it. No government support blah blah

I think it an excellent idea and worthy of greater support within the industry. I also think the WTA should consider being part of this scheme. Those (like George) that have appliance recycling centres should be well up for it anyway!

I got the email too and have no connection to DASA and do not advertise the email address that they used.

Has the WTA/UKW member list been hacked?

Not that I am aware of, no idea where they would get that info unless they are trawling the WTA map, I guess that they could get it from there. Plus, it’s all offline other than that so I can’t see how that would be possible.

    Re: EEE safe email.

Hi every one, I see here there are some queries you have about emails etc, please let me explain if I may.

It seems some of you have received a Mail Chimp about EEESafe, one has even suggested the WTA/UKW member list has been hacked? If it has then I am not aware of this at all. I use all of DASA’s lists of present and past members, if you are on that list (*it may well be out of date*) and you do not want to receive any more Mail Chimp’s please let me know at office@dasa.org.uk and I will make sure your name and email address is removed. Please remember that once you are removed you will no longer receive any information from the Association.

Ken, I have no intentions of trawling the WTA map! To be honest I would not know even where to look. Plus I have no need to.

DASA as some of you may be aware, is holding a trade show. This show does indeed have EEESafe in attendance. Any queries you have either about/with, or concerning EEESafe you may register via the DASA front page, just click on the Register tab and fill in the form. DASA should also have a trade stand at the show, again any questions/queries you have about or concerning the Association you are most welcome to come along and ask, however you do need to register first.

This will not be an exercise in getting more members in the Association, however should anyone want to make enquiries that will be entirely up to that individual, there should be no pressure from any one at all. If there is then please let me know at the show, it would be very hard to sort out after for obvious reasons.

*The lists I have are not those of the Association’s, these are ones I have kept over a period of time and now I use it for sending Mail Chimp information out. I have them because I think the recipients (member or not) may be interested in or the content may be of use. I apologise if I have upset/annoyed anyone, that has not been my intent, deja vu or not.

I have only just read this post, hence my lateness in response.

    Hi Dave,

I never said that you or anyone did, I was speculating on how it could be so, not stating that it was so with a complete lack of information of who sent the mail or why.

I have to admit, beyond ensuring that the info was secure on the WTA and UKW sites, I didn’t much care either given that the question posed was, “Has the WTA/UKW member list been hacked?”. It wasn’t and the data secure.

People got unsolicited emails, asked a question, I answered as best I could with the information I had.

The question posed was not, why are DASA sending mails to members or anything else and, insofar as I knew, it had nothing to do with DASA. So quite why you feel the need to drag me into your post escapes me.

    Re: EEE safe email.

Ken, thank you for your response. I have taken the liberty of copy and paste your earlier comment.

‘Not that I am aware of, no idea where they would get that info unless they are trawling the WTA map, I guess that they could get it from there. Plus, it’s all offline other than that so I can’t see how that would be possible.’

This was the reason of why you was included, if it was speculation then why did you not precede it by saying ‘this is only speculation here’, that would have been precise enough.

The below has reference to DASA
EEE safe email. was originally posted by aqualectric on Wed Sep 25 which said ‘Got an EEE safe email today from what looks like DASA.’

This was a standard Mail Chimp which was sent out to all on my list. If anyone feels they want to be removed from that list that is fine, no problem at all, they just need to click on the relevant link to be removed and that will be done.

    Regards to you all

    Re: EEE safe email.

    what looks like DASA[/qoute]

    Being the pertinent part.

Is says, “looks like”, doesn’t say “is”.

The email could have come from anyone with the inference being heavily that it was from EEESafe, not DASA. My presumption was that it wasn’t a mail from DASA as I wouldn’t have thought that DASA was in the business of sending unsolicited emails, apparently I was incorrect there, thank you for that clarification.

That aside, I have no interest in the matter at all or in EEESafe really because, so far as I can tell, it has no government, retailer or public support. So far as I am aware it has been rejected by DEFRA and is therefore a wholly private enterprise now.

So, my only real interest, other than perhaps a passing curiosity, was in the comment regarding a potential data compromise of our systems, little more.

    K.
