Flooded base, you need to unplug, tilt to one side and allow the water to drain out. Then remove the base and try and identify where it is leaking from.

If it is tripping the mains then you will need a megger or multimeter to find out out why, a ten minute blast with a hairdryer into the base may help.

Lots of possible leak points, oversoaping, leaking main circulation pump, leaks from loose connection to lower spray arm, flow meter popped out, leaks from sump seal, etc, etc. :rolls:

Is your fuse box fitted with an rcd. If so you may have a leak or water Ingress into the level sensor. Does it attempt to pump out water?

    ????????????????

The level sensor or pressure switch to give it its correct name is well above the base level on these machines. Any leak into the base would operate the float switch and switch it to drain long before the water got anywhere near the pressure switch.

It is however quite common for the main circulation pump to leak, become damp and trip the RCD.

If the base is not flooded then the heating element going down to earth is a very common cause of this fault, either way its megger or multimeter time.

    Another BFI620 problem for me.
I had lights 2&4 flashing, and on testing with a meter – heater showed nothing. It seemed so simple!

I have just duly replaced the heater with this – http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/pro … ID=1504069
I’ve switched on and the initial pump process seems to just continue. Light one is flashing (is that normal?) and I’ve run it with the side panel off – no leaks. It just doesn’t seem to go any further ie. first spray of water.

Does it just take longer the first time after a fix like this? Any other suggestions?

Light one flashing is supposed to signify a flooded base.

Did you remove the wiring connector plug from the float switch?

If the base is bone dry then you may not have fitted the plug back correctly or the polystyrene float may be stuck.

Perfect. I think that has solved it. Thank you so much iadom!

I snagged a piece of the polystyrene when i refitted the float. duh!

Just testing fully now, but will report back with any other issues

We have the same problem flashing light no.4 removed the pcb no apparent burn marks please can someone tell me which colours are for the elemenets I need to test
    Thanks for your help

You test the element directly from underneath. TBH if your machine has the long element that is visible inside the tub, they are not as prone to failure as the later tube type element.

There is rarely any visible sign of damage on the PCB, they are just rubbish. :rolls:

    Hi all,

    New on here and I’ve been trawling through the di620 threads to try and suss out my machine. It’s not heating as most of the others seem to do! Number 4 light is flashing. So far I’ve checked;
Heating element for continuity and resistance (29ohm) seems fine.
Took wires out of element and plugged the multimeter in and ran a cycle, the voltage sits about 30V and then clicks up to 220V periodically throughout the cycle… so the element seems to be ok, and it’s getting power????
Took out the pcb and visually checked, nothing obvious.
This is where inspiration ran out, I know most cases are solved with a new pcb, does mine sound like that’s the problem too? Despite power getting to the element?

Any help would be great, ive already had to buy a new washing machine this week so I’d like to fix this one myself!!

🙂 Yeah Ive yet to hear anything good about this machine, er the only thing I can think of is that it blocks up a large hole in my kitchen which would otherwise be there!!

You reckon that it could still be the PCB even though there is voltage getting to the element?

    Re: Indesit DI620 – Please help 🙂

Yours has the old style element that is visible inside the tub, that one is much less prone to failure, the PCB’s are by far the most common cause of no heat, just because it is getting voltage to it doesn’t mean that it has a return path for a start. Also it is very likely to break down under load as well.

There are two different PCB’s for this model, full serial number needed to identify, both around the £70.00 mark.

    NB.

For anyone else reading this, there is no need whatsoever to ‘live’ test. All faults can be isolated using a suitable multimeter or megger.

My serial no is 70521 3849 (PCB I think should be C00143222?)

I just came here to thank you for the helpful information. I was able to fix my Indesit Dishwasher with this issue using the information here. It turns out a zener diode had gone on my timer module PCB as a previous user had said. This must be a common issue with this board.

On mine it was the one labeled DZ02 which can be replaced with a BZX85C 12V 1.3W, you can get these on eBay etc or from a retail store in the UK Maplins (order code QF55K)

I wrote up the process I went through to help others on my blog below.
