My comment was a little tongue in cheek Ken as you probably figured anyway. And like Tim I cannot fathom how the hell Adrian can generate anywhere near this amount of work being as his web presence is zilch……… I think someone is telling porkies…..?

I wasn’t sure, you can get quite passionate about such things on occasion Martin. 😉
I can’t comment on the rest other than to say that I would struggle to disagree worth you.

Ade struggled and l doubt got 20-40 jobs a week when he owned his various appliance repair businesses.

i suppose in a way this will benefit me too. as long as i do a good job, who do they ring in the future? probably me 😀 so in a way this work from national appliance care could help me build my customer base. When they pass the customer they don’t have any further input in to the job so they literally are passed to me and future work by these customers depend solely on the way my business does the repair.
hi
that’s great, so long as they re call you back for your efforts
for the future , then this can only help your company, good luck to you if this get you in the door, 😀 but at £20 a pop to get them first you could do a lot of self promotion before you spent that much finding them? in the first place, canufixit

Or, as a “homer” Sudeep built this for a few hundred quid for Lawrence…
http://www.careysappliancerepairs.co.uk
or this one…
http://www.kitchenandlaundryappliancecare.co.uk
The latter especially needs some work, granted. But I’m sure that you get the point that money can be (arguably) better spent getting work that makes money and isn’t a perpetual drain.
As well as an advertising to the world that you’ll work on the cheap and that you can afford to give up the “bounty” or “commission” fees. (Indesit and others will call on you soon…)
Like most things, a web site you will get out of about as much as you put into it. If you put in little effort, don’t expect a lot out it. Just the same as jobs, zero effort or thought in, zero profit out.
Or if you want to pay someone a bounty to do it for you then there’s this and other options, just don’t bitch about the charges for it after the fact if you can’t be bothered to do something for yourself.
IMO you may as well spend your money on Google Ads along with the free Google Places etc that Ally has done loads of work on for the WTA guys or Yell etc though, probably a better and wider audience with a lower cost per job.
Just saying is all… but hey, if it works for you, knock yourselves out… what do I know.

UK Tradebook.com.ltd is registered in Eastbourne Sussex. UK Tradebook.com UK are also trading as Normanton Domestics in Yorkshire. All formally registered by Adrian in Wales as Findmyengineer.com. Is it just me that is confused over all this or what?

hello kwatt. i used to run a adwords campaign and still do sometimes if its really quiet.its very hard to get used to and needs a lot of time spent on it to make sure you dont spend to much.you only have to go on google for how to maintain a adwords account and it will tell you over and over that if not run right it can cost a lot of money.
then you have the headache of the phone always ringing with people that want things for free.and you have to answer every call as theyare costing sometimes as much as 2 or 3 pound a click.and if you do low costs per clik, then you dont appear so its a bugger.so in reality youre probly spending a quite a few quid to get 1 job.and with advertising lower rates as you said, people do that everyday anyway.the firm i spoke to few weeks back said they only pay me 20 quid if a machine swapped and that might be after 2 trips!.
i got fed up with the phonecalls.everyone wants something for nothing.im trying to work but spending more time on the phone to people wanting new appliances or people wanting free callouts or even had them where they having new kitchens and want advice on new appliance.and im paying for that call.so my advice would be to try it on a low budget.
ive said along with others above that national appliance care is good.you people should try it before you knock it.and tothe guy above martin, why not ring them or email and you can get your confusion sorted out?they are a good bunch to deal with so rather than go magnum pi,just ask them directly?

I think the confusion is where all the work comes from?
It can’t be down to people searching online.September 13, 2013 at 7:29 am #400599kwatt
KeymasterRe: National Appliance Care ?
My take Tim is that if it’s purely through Adwords then essentially NAC “buys” the customer using the advertising then sells it to the repairer for £20 a referral.
That’s the basics in a nutshell.
Therefore, basically a work provider taking a £20 fee per call but with no responsibility beyond getting the call to earn the fee.
Logic would suggest that it costs NAC less than the £20 to get the call or, they wouldn’t make money from it and wouldn’t do it. And, if agents wanted to do likewise for less, they could with a modicum of effort. Simples.

This may be considered a little off track, or maybe not, it depends on your take, but…
I remember seing a program lately, I’m sure it was Rip-Off Britain, where it was reported that a company had been prosecuted and severely fined for purporting to be Local when they were actually not.. They were as is stated previously a company that advertises Nationally, but then punts the job and takes a bite of the apple.
