as a matter of interest, how much were those getting the letter spending with Qualtex? Interested to see how near I am to the cut.
Did any of you send stuff back regularly?
The only issue they may be unhappy about is those using their site to look stuff up on and once knowing the part number are going elsewhere to buy. Maybe they monitor the searches to actual buying ratio.December 12, 2016 at 4:03 pm #443506harley

Their cut off point is £100 a week, the only items I’ve sent ever sent back is the odd fan oven element that’s failed in a short period of time.
As they are my only supplier I’ve no need to look up prices to compare with anyone else, I’m more than satisfied at the service they have provided over the years.I don’t discriminate against my customers as to how much they spend with me, surely a job is a job after all and I’m grateful for each returning customer I get
I phoned them this morning hoping to speak to one of the directors who appeared on last year’s accounts but neither were available, my comments were noted and I’m told I will get a reply, I’m not holding my breath.
Mr Storah was only appointed finance director this time last year, I’m surprised its taken him this long to upset anyone, who know’s whats coming next maybe some redundancies, possibly his own that would save Qualtex a heap of cash to begin with.

I had the letter today too, when I phoned them they said only a FEW businesses had their accounts closed !. After reading this forum there seems that its a lot more being closed, I was typically spending £150 to £250 a month I stopped using them as much after having problems getting credits for faulty parts most of which were Qualtex own brand . I was trying to get an answer from them how we are affected if parts we have bought go faulty there is probably very little chance of getting a credit now !! . They advised on the letter about using “appliancespareswarehouse” I understand that this is just a retail site of theirs that any member of the public can buy from.

timing seems odd too, chances are the next few weeks could be the busiest of the year, think they would have waited till Jan to turn away business like this.

I have been concerned that they would close my account I emailed the rep today she replied with someone from accounts would contact me. I don’t really get near £75.00 per month as work has been up and down and shop around for best prices, only thing that would bother me is connect having more business, when they had a rep in my area Mark most of my parts where ordered with them. My spend with Qualtex has dropped to between £75.00 to £150.00 per month. This is lower than it used to be, but much like a lot of others I shop around to get the best deal for ME especially since the carriage fee increased. I find HT Maddocks to be good for stock items (elements, brushes etc) Connect hold a good stock for other items and I have now re-opened my account with Masterpart. I also order from manufacturers and other sources when needed
As Deltra Says If they don’t want my money, it will go elsewhereDecember 13, 2016 at 12:52 pm #443512harley

Having had a phone call from Mr Storah this morning which got nowhere apart from he’s very sorry.
He did suggest however that those affected could or should use their retail outlet to acquire spares. I did point out that how does buying parts at retail make good business practice ! and he’s a FINANCIAL Director. I did however wish him and his family a Happy Christmas after all his six figure salary won’t restrict his spending this Christmas. I think its deplorable the way he and Qualtex have treated those affected.
I’m going to start on the Scotch early tonight.

What’s that got to do with a business decision by Qualtex?

Nothing.
But perhaps if members of the WTA are affected then this is where the WTA could come into action. Strength in numbers and all that!December 13, 2016 at 5:50 pm #443516Lawrence

Qualtex have made a business decision based upon the facts placed in front of them as per their business plans.
Much the same as when we increase our charges to reflect the economic climate we may lose custom they will also lose custom
Whilst I think a phone call to people suggesting that unless they increase there spend they will lose there account would have been a better way of dealing with folk ,what’s done is done.
If people want to complain to Qualtex then I would suggest they write to them outlining there grievances.December 13, 2016 at 8:48 pm #443517robbo1973

Its shocking and its difficult to see the business sense in Qualtex closing small accounts down.
Connect did this to me nearly five years ago when I only spent £725 pounds in a year with them.
Never bought anything with them since, their loss as spending at the same rate with them would now mean nearly 4K of business has gone else where.Remember there are alternatives who do want your business!!
(The General Trade Forum is sponsored by Qualtex so I’m sure the sponsors have something to say about this?)

It seems an odd business strategy. I have read many times it is more cost effective to work with existing customers to retain and grow business than to try and attract new customers. To refuse to deal with them anymore without any prior discussion seems idiotic. However, for my business, with access to least 12 other trade suppliers, the loss of our Qualtex account is not something I will lose any sleep over.
