ParticipantI received a letter this morning informing me that my account with qualtex is being closed,” as the value of my purchases has fallen below the level at which we can economically service your account”
Admittedly my work has dropped off a little since I moved house to a different area and I am spreading my orders around according to cost and availability, but still spend some money with them.
They want me to order from appliancespareswarehouse.co.uk in future. NO CHANCE. I will take my business elsewhere
If their prices and stock where better I would have ordered more from themRant over 😡 😡

hi Toni
You’ll find that their Ebay sales store is actually cheaper than a lot of the trade prices and it also includes vat and free postage and you also get to keep your 30 day returns as distant sales reg comes into force with them as its a private sale so it would also carry a warranty which they don’t normally do with a trade sale.

Received the same letter today, I have been ordering spare parts from Qualtex for 16 years and now this without any warning from my rep who I spoke to recently!

What are these costs to “service” an account?

Nil, I would imagine, other than a tiny IT overhead and possibly credit risk insurance.

I normally pay with a card on order so I can’t see what the problem is.
I shall be sending them an email to make them aware of my view on thisDecember 10, 2016 at 5:05 pm #443496electrofix

Will a rep from Qualtex stick their head round the door at the February meet?

Hi all, I to got the same letter on Friday, far from impressed that someone hasn’t had the courtesy to phone and explain the reasoning behind their action.
They’ve had my business for nearly sixteen years and have paid my months account long before its due and without fail that’s how they treat the sole trader/self employed person i think is disgusting.
So I have two weeks to find another trade supplier or shut up shop after 25 years, Happy Christmas Qualtex.P.s Don’t worry guy’s Qualtex Xmas will be, OK I had a read of their accounts on companies house Gov.UK

Same here. Letter received yesterday. Always paid my account on time. Admittedly I haven’t been ordering as often, since the higher free postage threshold introduced. They also seem to be basing their prices on Connect’s. They initially approached me for business only to up their limits a few months later. These companies want it both ways. They supply trade as well as retail and expect there order rate to remain constant.
Their loss.December 11, 2016 at 5:55 pm #443501Fly-on-the-wall

They WERE one of many suppliers I use as price and availability effect where I CHOOSE to purchase .
The benefits of a trade account to the smaller trader have been lost in recent years . Just compare on Ebay for a start . And sister sites don’t get me started on sister sites .
We don’t want / need free Wall planners and rulers . We don’t even want the junk mail posted to us every month (What a waste straight in the recycling bin) . All of this was cost was self inflicted by the Qualtex marketing team . Waste of money . May be they should take a closer look at these imagined costs . Then they should consider this :- Do we want to increase our sales revenue or decrease it by turning away returning sources of income ?
As of Now I am putting Qualtex on STOP and will not buy any item with the brand name on it . Like they are the only supplier .
These letters may end up being Finance director Richard Storah’s end with Qualtex . What a muppet .December 11, 2016 at 6:54 pm #443502stratfordgirl

It does seem an odd strategy. Perhaps they see their future in direct retail sales. It is certainly a bad thing for our trade, reducing competition between suppliers. Unless new players enter the market, I see Connect raising prices and a future where we are forced to deal direct with the manufacturers.
